An interconnecting story of 3 women from the 'weyward' family, and their affinity for nature and healing.

Initially the jumping back and forth between the 3 characters really irritated me as I felt it broke up the flow of the story. But towards the latter half this helped build tension across the narratives - tension was lacking quite often in each narrative on its own as not much came as a surprise!

There's some unfortunate over use of tropes around trauma that knocked this down a bit for me, just because it felt that the plot was pretty predictable rather than nuanced in how it looked at violence against women, and this left the characters feeling a bit flat at times.

Women’s relationships with other women are the most powerful relationships that a woman can have.

It’s such an interesting book full of strong female leads. I loved the three interwoven stories and the mystery unfolding. Very well done.

The author does a phenomenal job with the three different timelines - different tenses used consistently for each, but intermingling just enough to show the connections

this book was very good! it was well-written and exciting. and it reaffirmed my misandry (I HATE MEN). i thoroughly enjoyed the three different povs from three generations of the same matriarchal line. it was. nothing like i expected, though! i went in blind thinking it would be fantastical and witchy, and instead it was moving and tense. i was on edge pretty much the entire time. the magic aspect was more toned down than i expected, but i really enjoyed it. the themes of scorned women/womanhood in general and justice and fear and violence and power were all very emotional. it was a very sadly realistic look at generations of trauma that women have had to live through.

for me, personally, the book dealt with topics that i generally have on my “do not read” list. this story was told brilliantly, but it was definitely a hard read for me. while i loved the FMCs and their story, it was a bit much for me emotionally. i also feel as though the entire plot was a bit obvious from about 40% in. the writing was extremely well done though and the story was beautiful; it was just hard on me personally !! will def be checking out this author again in the future!
