Another fun romp from the legend that is Serge Storms, Another hurricane is hitting florida and Serge is on a mission to visit the famous to him graves in Florida. As usual he gets into lots of adventures, saves people from others and makes the other different type of bad guys pay. Tim Dorsey is on my just buy it the day it comes out and devour it list. If he wrote 12 books a year I would read them all. If you are on the fence about reading this series ask yourself this. Have you ever told a joke that made others turn pale because of how twisted it was? If so then this book will be right up your alley.

It was cute and amusing, but not what I was expecting. There wasn’t really a “mystery” of the naked Florida man, but I liked the interwoven narratives. Generally meh but the ending was good.

Reliably clever, witty Tim Dorsey book. As a Floridian I enjoy the setting and find the obscure historical tidbits entertaining. 3.5 stars

Achingly simple, this rollicking Gonzo-style madcap adventure is perfect for anyone wants a novel that reads like a badly written and schlocky script peppered with insanely interesting facts about Florida. Escapism not at its finest, but still escapist! Which is good. I think.

I like the Serge books, I really do, but... I always come away from them a little disappointed. My impression is that they want to be Carl Hiassen really badly, but don't quite get there. Coming off this one, my immediate thought is that this was a book that needed a plot. You get a lot of fun hijinks from Serge as he punishes various Florida conmen and assholes, you get a side(back)story about a young girl wanting to play football, and another side story about a criminal boat captain, and the thing is, these different storylines don't hook up until about the last 30 minutes of this 11 hour audiobook. The result is that there really is no driving narrative - There's no reason to keep reading because it's just Serge rambling around Florida getting into humorous trouble. That's fun on its own and I did enjoy the book, but after a while you get the impression that the author is just venting his frustrations on the scumbags of Florida rather than actually putting forth a connected tale.

Sooo... Fun and entertaining and not boring, but not really a standout novel, at least to me.

Picked this up as I was in the mood for some humorous fiction and this definitely fit the bill. Until I came to Goodreads to log it I had no idea it was part of a series, number 23, in fact! However, I feel it stood completely on its own. I came with no knowledge of the characters and it didn’t matter as they were well presented. Now that I know there are others in this series I have to get them. I had several moments while reading that I quite literally laughed out loud. This book was exactly the sort of humorous read I was looking for.

Came into this unprepared having never read any of the other Serge Storm books. This book was wild. Love the setting and the Florida history facts, some of which I hope to follow up on. Some of Serge's rants lost me a little but not enough to stop me from moving forward. By the end, I was satisfied with the story and will consider going back to read some of Serge's other adventures.

Overall a wild ride, as promised by the title and the setting, and a solid 3 stars.
