Omg this story was so good! The amount of torment, heartbreak and laughter I got from this was amazing. Kai wouldn't give up no matter what and was determined to prove it. Jo was stubborn and difficult at times but when you find out you can't help but be understanding. These two were meant for destruction or happiness. This book is not an easy read and I had to prepare myself. The chaos and joy this book brought was well worth it to me.

he delivery of this book was raw and real.

the way the MMC is coping with his own addiction and struggles throughout the story while trying (desperately) to put the peices of the FMC together was beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved and felt the panic and pain that the character was feeling and thought it was portrayed in a broken and terrible way - that it showed the truth the scattered thoughts and feelings.

I loved Kid from Hawke and grew to love him more here - my maternal instincts just wanted to bundle him into my arms and tell him he'd be okay. I was at first frustrated with the fmc and her constant push/pull towards him but then appreciated the way her character developed as the mmc learnt more about her past and why she ran from it.

Was the plot and 'cause of pain' the most solid...no, but I accepted it and went with it for the more subtle depth of what was being achieved overall.
I did get annoyed that she (someone who has experience with drugs and the drug world) didn't recognise Kid going through withdrawal... but okay.
I did like the way the story tied up as I was a little concerned with where it was going and how it was going to all be resolved given a lot of it was 'simillar' -- I mean that a few chapters of what felt like the same situations were occuring -- but thankfully, we got past that and started moving. The spice was on point as always in a crazed drug induced way and also in a growth and light bdsm way. Jescie writes good spice with enought emotional depth of character growth and story to keep you keen.

The past will always haunt the present. Every experience we have been through, all the little pieces of our lives are put together to dictate the person we will become. When we have trauma, the impact is significant. This whole book was pretty existential. The overcoming of the past with a person who will help you take the scattered pieces and put them back together.
Kid is a party boy. When he moved it with Hawke and Cole, they wanted to give him a place to start over. Instead, he continued his partying ways. Until he met Han. At first it was all fun and games. She ran, he chased. But when things begin to become more serious, they have a struggle to overcome their past to see if they have a future together.
There were so many parts of this book that spoke to me. As someone with extensive amounts of trauma, some of which I blame myself for like Han, I really felt deeply when reading. I loved that this wasn’t an instalove and they didn’t;t just work it out right away. The struggle and push and pull was so realistic that it drew me in.
Definitely recommend.

My poor heart took such a beating with this book!!! What a heartfelt, heartbreaking story about finding yourself and your worth. Kid came such a long way and so did Jo!!!

Adding Jescie Hall to my instant buy author list!

This was a slow start strong finish read. A love story surrounded by drug abuse and addiction. Spreading light on how trauma, particularly in childhood, can lead to so many wrong decisions. This story has the ability to make you swoon but also rip your heart out as you see the power of love.
