This was sweet and hot and I enjoyed it but I always get frustrated by couples that keep themselves from being happy because of their own stupid ideas. Get over yourself!

This was a fun book.  I always like when the big alpha male falls, and falls hard, for the one woman that should appeal to him.

Chase is the playboy cop who doesn't ever think he'll get married, so he plays the field.  Livia is a woman who's convinced the world is going to end at 30 if she doesn't have a baby.  After a chance meeting at a high school protest, Chase and Livia find that working towards one of Livia's goals is a lot of fun.

These two were fun.  It was apparent, from their first meeting, that the sparks were going to fly.  The authors didn't disappoint us with their development either.  There was so much more to this relationship than the sex and what should have been a means to an end became so much more than Chase and Livia were hoping for.

There's a little bit of everything for readers.  There's laughter, lots of sexy time, and those angsty moments that tied this book up into the ultimate pool afternoon read.

Picking up this book, I realized how conflicted I am about consuming media about police officers.

This book follows a cocky "good time" cop Chase, but insert a little politics as if to show his persona by having him speak up for body cams to be installed for all officers, and that his brother in law is a Black men and he cares for his nephews, who will grow up to be Black men. It doesn't go further than surface level, and I'm not sure if it should have or not. Would the book have been too weighed down by Chase championing body cameras and discussing racism/BLM? Maybe. It probably would've been at the detriment of the romance. But something felt kind of flippant at reading this book and being like "oh he's a good cop so it's okay to enjoy this", if that makes sense. I'm still sorting through my feelings so I'm probably not doing justice to it. I need to think on it more.

Careers aside, the storyline is sex heavy as Livia asks Chase on their first date to please knock her up. She's done with men and he's the perfect physical specimen to be the sperm donor for her kids, minus the hefty fertility price tag. So they get to boning... and boning... and boning.

I'm tagging this at erotica for the sheer ratio of sex > plot.

3.5 stars!

I absolutely adored this book. It has everything a good read should have; heart, humour, fun characters and sexy time. Ok, so I might have made that last part up, but when it comes to Officer Chase Kelly I'm afraid I can't help myself. You'll feel the same when you meet him, I'm sure. He's very addictive. A gentleman with a filthy mind, what's not to love? He is all about having a good time and boy does he know how to have a good time. Liv is one lucky girl.
Livia is sweet and scared, she hides behind her walls to protect herself, haven't we all done that at one point? I found myself cheering her on through a lot of the book, but at times I was also cursing her, telling her that I know what's best for her and that she needed to listen to me. (Why don't characters listen to us? lol) I read this book over a few days to draw it out as I didn't want it to end. It is wonderfully written and I laughed, swooned and even shed a couple of tears.

TW: This entire book is about pregnancy.

A lot of the spice was very good, but it was cringy at times.

The line about
sucking breast as prep for the baby
really did NOT do it for me. 100% not my thing and sadly once got the ick hard to go back. Shame because a lot of the writing I very much enjoyed, and the building of their relationship. I’m sure this will float a lot of people’s boats just not for me.

Not for me.

I was either rolling my eyes or feeling cringy with this book. I ended up fully reading the first 25% but then started skimming. It didn’t get any better for me so I started skipping. Finally decided to just go right to the last two chapters. I liked those two chapter so this got two stars from me. I know my opinion is in the minority so firmly believe readers should form their own opinion on this book.

I haven't read much from Laurelin Paige, but I have read a lot of Sierra Simone and I love her! Always my go to when I need some exquisite smut, and this book did not let me down. Pair that with Jacob Morgan's voice (just yum) and it's magical. Exactly what I wanted. Dirty, but with a story line that makes sense and characters you feel you could really know. Felt like real, not forced affection between the main characters. This will be on my must repeat listen list.
