Not my favorite Peter Swanson. Characters or plot wise, I felt it could have been a lot better. I also thought the reasoning being the list was quite convoluted and hypocritical. And when it was all send and done the reveal was subpar in my opinion. Oh and a N-word drop. And then the ending, yea not my favorite.
This was going to be a 2⭐️ book but it immediately lost a star the moment the 'why' was revealed by the killer. I rolled my eyes so hard and just groaned. Make it make sense, cause it was the most asinine and not taking responsibility for their part. Dumb. Also, the writing was so dry and wooden that it was a slog to get through. It was just a play-by-play of the murder of each person, and it was presented in such a clinical fashion. There were no stakes, just boredom. I get more excited when reading a restaurant menu. Also, Do not recommend it.
Spoiler
You were part of the little pirates club and agreed to the task given to your sister. You left her in the cove, never going back to check in on her, allowed her to have her hands tied, and when she dies, you are blameless?! But the other kids are the true culprits, and therefore, their spawn should all be murdered.Spoiler
I had a real problem with this man making Allison a lover and comparing her to his daughter. Yeesh. Again, what was the purpose of that little reveal?

In this heart-pounding thriller, nine strangers receive a cryptic list with their names on it. Initially dismissing it as junk mail, they soon discover that someone wants them dead. As the strangers begin to die in unusual circumstances, including drownings and shootings, FBI agent Jessica Winslow, also on the list, takes it upon herself to uncover the connection between them. With professions ranging from oncology nurse to aspiring actor, and spread across different locations, the group must unravel the dark secret that binds them or face the wrath of a murderous madman. As the tension rises, each stranger lives in fear, unsure who will be the next to be crossed off the list.
As a huge fan of "And Then There Were None," I eagerly anticipated reading this book, and I must say it lived up to my expectations. The overall ending was satisfying, but I felt that the final part was unnecessary both for the story and the readers.

In this novel, nine people around the U.S. receive a list of names in the mail, including their own. As the FBI investigates, the people on the list begin getting murdered, one at a time. Who wrote the list, how are the people on it related, and how can they stop the killings? This tense suspense novel kept us entertained during long hours in the car. I talk more about this novel at 13:25 in this video:

This wasn’t spectacular, but it wasn’t bad. It was wordy— but that happens with so many story lines. This story wrapped up beautifully! That last bit made it aaalll worth it.
