I'm really enjoying reading the Haller books in order. There's more depth to them than I realized.

I like the narration by Peter Giles.

A terrific read by Michael Connelly, with two of his main characters, Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch. The court room scenes are particularly riveting, with Haller sharing his schemes, triumphs and failures. They are well summed up with the first sentence of the novel, "Everybody lies."

Interestingly, Haller is the story teller and Bosch comes off as crabby and manipulative, very different from the novels in which Bosch is the main character. Bosch continues to get less and less sympathetic a character as he ages.

Another fun page-turner from Michael Connelly. A fun, quick read for some semi-mindless entertainment.

Another great book from Connelly! In this one, he introduces Harry Bosch - a character from another on of his series. I love how he was able to have these two worlds collide, such a fun idea. Though I haven't read anything from the Bosch series, I can see myself growing fond of it fast. A lot of suspicion as usual but the ending / relationship between Haller and Bosch blew my mind. Connelly really knows how to add drama up until the end 😂

SYNOPSIS:
After almost a year off work to recover from an incident in book 1 and its lingering consequences, Mickey Haller gets back on his feet. He inherits all the cases of Jerry Vincent, a previous colleague of his, who was suspiciously murdered. Of the cases, Haller catches his biggest case yet -- Walter Elliott - a big Hollywood studio exec who was accused of murdering his wife and her secret lover. As the story unfolds, detective Harry Bosch, assigned to Vincent's murder grows suspicious of Haller and Haller starts to fear for his own safety as well.

I thoroughly enjoy this series by Michael Connelly. The Lincoln Lawyer was the first book I had read by this author and immediately the book grabbed my attention. With The Brass Verdict, Connelly once again delivered a compelling and exciting storyline.

What I love most about Mickey Haller is how much of a flawed character he is. I love that he is so human, that he makes mistakes, and that he doubts himself all the time. And yet, he is brilliant at what he does. He is confident in his ability as a lawyer. He has his own kind of conviction, but is also willing to question it.

The Brass Verdict is another great story, although I think not as impactful as The Lincoln Lawyer, but that may be because I watched the movie first. I went into this series because I was on a courtroom drama binge, and I was in the mood for lots of delicious drama in the courtroom. I got what I wanted, alright, but it occurred to me that, more than being about plot and drama, this series is very much about people.

I love how deep and interesting all the characters were, how developed they were. I loved Mickey, sure, but I also loved Lorna, and Cisco, and Bosch (who I know has his own series, but I haven't read them). I loved that Bosch and Mickey didn't get along all that well. You tend to expect beloved characters in a crossover to work better together, but they were individual characters holding their own. I also love Julie and how she was able to read people. I think there's probably a great story there, and I'd love to find it.

Reading reviews from other readers who've read more of Connelly's books, it seems like many of the characters here have made appearances in other series. The Mickey Haller books are the first ones I'm reading from Connelly, so all the characters are new to me, but it certainly explains why the characters are the best thing about the books. I'm willing to bet that the characters are the best things about all Connelly's books.

I'm eager to read more from Connelly.

I enjoy the licoln lawyer series withe the twists they put on it.

All three of my favorite Connelly characters in one book. Doesn't get much better than that. I love mickey Haller and was happy to see he starred in this book. I waited the whole thing out for the big reveal of their relationship with Bosch and it didn't disappoint understated and lovely.

Great book, awesome enjoyed it very much..
