The introduction made me raise my eyebrows several times, but there were some good bits so I thought I’d try to read further. Turns out no, I don’t think I can. At least not right now. It’s just too Freudian and “you need to forgive your parents to heal” isn’t something I can get behind.

Not for abuse survivors
The book started out well but was too invested in generational trauma and not actual trauma that result from unresolved generational trauma.
It’s very gendered. The author normalizes parentification. Lays blame on the child (adult child) to heal the relationship.
Makes issues of those who didn’t marry. Compulsory monogamy.
The author lays bare his biases.

DNF really quickly with the huge emphasis to reconcile with parents. This should never be forced or pushed. Some parents have created a lot of trauma and are extremely emotionally immature and it’s not the child’s fault to repair this relationship a parent has to change and grow and do the work for themselves.
Did enjoy the first few chapters on inner healing and generational trauma but reconciliation with parents does not mean that then all the issues will go away or that that means the cycle is ending. That’s quite toxic messaging! Should’ve read the reviews first.

I read the first 3 chapters only, bcz suddenly the book shifted and the author started saying a lot of red flags and It didn't met my knowledge. I found he stated a lot of wrong facts like, try healing from the place that hurted you. Is this a therapist????

Not what I'd hoped it would be. I'm confused about the principle behind this book. Not sure I believe in this type of therapy
