Unfortunately this book was not for me, which was really a shame because the basic points were there: forced proximity, brother's best friend, ice hockey romance, childhood friends, why choose. When I read these items I was amazed, it almost seemed too good to be true. Well, it was. Whilst I am normally a pretty fast reader, this book took me almost twice as long to finish. It started off strong, it was fast paced but I kept up easily. I liked that it was straight to the point.
Unfortunately, the conflict was also in the beginning of the book Instead of at the end. The conflict the ENTIRE book remained the same; the brother finding out/keeping him in the dark. This was waaaaayy too dragged out, there wasn't a scene that didn't mention the brother. I couldn't enjoy the good stuff because it was always tainted while the issues could've just been resolved if they had talked to the brother.
Furthermore, I thought there were many missed opportunities. I thought the author could've really profited off of some details. Like the backstory of Charlotte and Jace, of how she used to stay with him in high school at night. There wasn't really any character development either, there were signs Charlotte was really insecurity about her designs and starting her own business, but they literally ripped it off her 'in the heat of the moment'. Like, she spent so much time and effort making it and all down the drain it goes.
I was at 82% and i really tried to finish it, it seemed like a waste to dnf it, but i genuinely could not finish it. It was too much for me.

Holy shiitake mushrooms! This book was HOT! Three sexy as sin hockey players, one beautiful and curvy redhead all finding out who they are individually and as a team. One has loved her since childhood, two who love her and each other, what could go wrong? I mean except for the fact that she’s their captain and best friend’s younger sister…

4/5 stars 3/5 spice This book may not be for everyone but I enjoyed it. When you add more than two people to a relationship things can get complicated but this was a cute story about three hockey players who fall for the same girl.

Charlotte fell for Jace in HS but he thought she rejected him but she was too young to know what she was feelings and he was her first kiss. When she ends up needing a place to live his life is turned upside by being near her again. The other 2 roomies end up falling for her as well.

I loved the Charlotte and the guys, the relationship between the four of them and the relationship that sparked between Mateo and Roman as well. I like how they all ended up together but with one special person at the same time.

Tropes:

2.5*
It was an overall "okay" read. There isn't anything notable about it, so I really don't it will be a memorable one for me. The hockey trope is very saturated now, so unless the characters or plot really stand out then it just fades into the background.
I really didn't like the whole main conflict/plot for this! The brother being the one to create all the secrets and issues of why they can't be together?! And the way he treated the MCs and the things he said about his own sister...NOPE. It just wasn't for me, and I can't understand why she would sacrifice her own happiness, other peoples happiness all for her brother. You don't need people in your life that treat you like that, or that make you think so lowly of yourself. It also didn't feel like he apologised enough to her, or came across as overly sincere. So personally, I skimmed parts as I just couldn't be bothered to read some of the bits with the brother in.
The MMCs were okay, I quite liked the overall idea of them but I think it was fairly shallow and there wasn't a lot of depth to them. Some of their story is repeated, but you don't actually get to see much into their lives...Teo has regular film nights with his Mum so it would have been nice to include that and have him opening up to her about it all. Get a little bit more depth, but also some vulnerability too.
It also felt odd that the relationship was based on the 4 of them as a whole, and two of the MMCs relationship together but not the FMC and her individual relationships with the MMCs. The relationship progression is fairly minimal, with barely any romance. The one dinner date scene had potential, until it mainly became focused on the build up to the spice.
So I think if you wanted a fairly easy read with not much to the plot and romance, then it is a good one to pick up in between reads but I don't think I will continue if they make it into a series with the brother.

My Brother's Teammates by Melissa Iver was a delightful surprise, offering a perfect blend of romance, humor, and a touch of drama. The story follows Ellie, who finds herself tangled up with her brother’s hockey teammates, leading to a series of entertaining and heartfelt moments. Iver does a fantastic job of creating a fun and engaging narrative that kept me hooked from start to finish.

There were moments where the plot felt a bit predictable, and some side characters could have used more development. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Iver's writing style is engaging and light, making it easy to get lost in the story. My Brother's Teammates is a great pick for anyone looking for a fun, romantic read with plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments. Definitely a winner in my book!

3.5 stars

Charlotte moving in with her brother’s best friend and his teammates led to…feelings, new and old, rising to the surface.

I really liked seeing Jace’s side of things, where he expressed how he felt about Charlotte. He was a jerk at first, but that was because he had feelings for her from years ago, but he held off because of her brother.

Mateo and Roman were…well, they both had a bi-awakening. I mean, it was great, but there didn’t really seem to be a lead up to it. It was like they suddenly started noticing each other now, despite having been roommates and teammates for a while. It just seemed too fast. But I still liked their relationship.

Now, Harrison, Charlotte’s brother, was the worst. I get it; he’s her brother, so she’s off limits. But they’re adults. And he just became all pissy and an a**hole when he found out his sister was sleeping with his teammates. It was so irritating.

Anyway, this is an easy, low angst why choose hockey romance.

(2⭐️/1.5

Easy, breezy, smutty why choose romance. I flew through this entertaining read - loved all 3 MCs. Each of them had their own unique story. And our FMC's journey was fun, funny and I loved everything about her. This one had a lot of heart and I loved the multi-POV. This isn't the deep emotional read though I did enjoy Roman's and Mateo's bi-awakening. Overall, if you're looking for a great, spicy hockey romance - don't skip this one. There is a bit of a slow burn but once the spice hits, it hits hard.

A sweet, spicy, why choose hockey romance you will not want to miss out on! Mateo, Roman, Jace, and Charlotte have amazing banter, and their relationships are beautiful.

Fun book!

This was such a fun book! I loved the different personalities and the moment when her brother finally found out!
