Went into this one blind as a Buddy Read for a Challenge month. I blew through it. Nice twists. Sometimes family drama is such bullshit.

An inspired retelling of Demeter & Persephone.  Not much to say other than that.

This book was disappointing. I figured out the ending early on. It was obvious .But I waded through endless repetitions of the characters whining before I blessedly finished the book.

LOVE IT!!!

2.5 stars rounded down

This book was very predictable, I figured out the big twist(s) after about 20%. I didn't care for any of the characters except Aunt Jill and didn't feel it was realistic in how the characters acted, or spoke. Told from the sister's (Sylvie) point of view, she seemed immature for someone 30 years old. There was lots of memories to build the history and she didn't seem to grow much.
It seemed to drag on and since I figured out the whole premise of the book, it was just nice to get it over with.

This book, with its beautiful and mysterious cover, is a cold case murder mystery wrapped up in a dysfunctional family drama. .
Sixteen years ago, Sylvie’s sister, Persephone goes missing after sneaking out at night with a boy that Persephone’s mother had forbidden her to see. After three days, police found Persephone’s body. But her murder was never solved.

After being estranged from her mother, Annie, for many years, Sylvie must now go home to care for her mom who has been diagnosed with cancer. Sylvie must navigate her relationship with her mother while knowing her sister’s killer has never been found. To make matters worse, Persephone’s boyfriend, Ben, works at the cancer center where Annie is being treated and Sylvie believes he is responsible for her sister’s death.
.
This book is well-written, compulsively readable and I rooted for Sylvie as she navigated a tangled web of family secrets and lies while trying to decipher the mystery of what really happened to Persephone on a snowy night sixteen years ago. This book kept me guessing right up to the very end!

I'm giving this book 3 1/2 stars. This is a solid thriller/murder mystery. I really didn't like Annie at all. She was so deeply flawed as a mother. I had a tough time with that aspect of the book. Other than that, I definitely recommend this one and look forward to the next book from Megan Collins!

I loved this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thriller, drama, love story or mystery. It was a captivating thriller I did not want to put down. There were plenty of twists and turns throughout the book.

I enjoyed the authors writing style. I especially liked the main character, Sylvie.

Several times I did not agree with the actions of one of the characters. As I continued to read, the author had a way of explaining the situation and making it believable.
Once the characters secrets are revealed the actions of the characters make more sense.

I received this galley from NetGalley.
