I LOVED the first story with Kizzy and Jack. They were great. So was the story, and I wish it was a full story.
The other two stories, however, did not impress me. I hated the second one, and the third confused me into not caring.

I don't even have the words to express how magical this book was!
Laini Taylor writes characters that feel so real. Characters that I feel like I could meet at any time of the day, even when they are cursed to never use their voice so they might kill everyone around them.
The first two stories were fenomenal, nothing light and fluffy but real, deep and sometimes a bit dark. Spicy Little Curses was my favourite of the three.
Three stories inspired by three different kinds of folklore and mythology, each revolving around a kiss. What more could I ask for?
My only complaint would be that the third story felt a bit complicated, but I think that is more me then the book. I probably will give it another go, because Laini Taylor deserves a five star rating.

This wonderful and intimate collection of novellas from Laini Taylor made the world feel far off whilst I was reading them. Laini has taken traditional folklore, fairytales and Romantic poems to shape three stories of first kisses.
Through every sentence you can feel Laini's imagination and see what she wanted to shape with her words and it truly does show the magic, emotion and the often experienced surprise that is felt at that moment in your life.
The book is bound together with Jim Di Bartolo gorgeous illustrations, that match his wifes words perfectly. It is a beautiful book, worth every penny.

I am in complete awe of Laini Taylor's near-supernatural abilities as a writer. In just three short stories about demons and kissing, she makes me understand the incredible complexity of divine intervention. She ANSWERS that life-long question about why bad things happen to good people, and she does it with such grace that the complexity of it settles immediately into your mind and takes up residence as FACT. I adore, in each story, how she shows that destruction is as much a part of love as joy.
Each world and set of characters she builds in this set of stories is completely unforgettable. I laughed so many times in the first chapter, about the tick-ridden goats and the unapologetic smoking and the embarrassing relatives, always slaughtering animals at inopportune times. Then I shivered at the Druj and their chilling culture. And I reveled in the exotic-smelling culture of British-occupied India and its accompanying tale of souls traded and bartered.
An absolutely stunning collection of writing. I have no idea why it took me so long to read it.

This collection of fairy tales is like none other. Though the three stories differ in length, each one is whole and haunting and satisfying. I was stunned to discover that the entire book was printed in color (!!!) and each story is richly adorned with *pages* of beautiful illustrations! Once again, Laini Taylor has stolen my heart, and I'm left wanting more, more, more.
Lovely writing and some interesting ideas. The last story clearly wanted to be a full-length novel and it's a shame it isn't.
I wish these stories could've been full length novels, I am so sad I'm running out of Laini books to read :')
Buddy read with Vippi! :3
Goblin fruit: 3 stars
I liked it, but I wish it was longer. I wanted to get to know Kizzy's family for example. Anyway, I love Taylor's writing style and her imagination, so I quite liked it.
Spicy little curses: 4.5 stars
This short story was so so beautiful. A little masterpiece. I loved the atmosphere, the idea itself and the writing. This one had a real ending and a great concept to begin with. If I had some doubts yesterday, I have no more today after reading this one. Laini has such a marvelous imagination.
Hatchling: 4.5 stars
I think that my favourite short story might still be Spicy little curses such as these but this one was beautiful too. It was a bit too long and confusing at first but in the end it was wonderful.
“Like a magpie, I am a scavenger of shiny things: fairy tales, dead languages, weird folk beliefs, fascinating religions, and more.”
That quote sums up what Laini does in her books. Every detail has a meaning and is marvelous and quirky itself. The result is, as always, stunning.
