The book is well-written, and sometimes it was difficult to put it down. There are storylines that are very well-planned, written, and implemented. There are details that confuse the reader. But, too many clichés.

A really good, twisty thriller. John Marrs has some genius potting going on here and elements that actually make you feel sorry for the bad guy....until he does something evil again. I didn’t see the big reveal coming at all! (I was disappointed there was no Lazarus moment at the end 😱)

How does authors come up with this????

Possible spoilers…..

I just recently discovered John Marrs, and the first two books of his that I read were in the first person where this book was completely third person which I personally don’t prefer.

With that said, I still am thrown when one of the main characters is murdered by the killer. So when Becca was murdered, I still found myself gasping and “clutching my pearls” in shock.

Easy QuickBooks to read couldn’t put it down took me just a little over a day and a half to finish it. The author has knocked it out of the park again.

The first half of all John Marrs' books make me think I will never reach the end. A burn so slow it takes literally half the book for the fire to even ignite. But once I finally push past that halfway point things get hot fast.
Unfortunately, I really didn't like Becca as a character and felt like Joe was not given a personality until the last 30 pages. However, like other novels of his, Marrs' antagonists are well done in the worst ways and I had to see it through.

Her Last Move is a twisty and action-packed read. It isn’t my favorite novel by Marrs. However, I love how it differs from the author's other thrillers. Fans of crime fiction and police procedure would enjoy this novel!

Marrs has a talent for weaving shockingly unique storylines and disturbing complex characters. This talent may not shine as much as it did in A Good Samaritan or What Lies Between Us, but it’s still there!

I enjoyed the characters. Their backstories were deep and mildly sad. I don’t mind tough topics in thrillers, but it’s something to note if you do. Some of the triggers in this novel are the death of a child, domestic violence, and suicide.

I’m a big fan of John Marrs. Therefore, I’ll always recommend his novels. Although this book wasn’t a great read for me, I would still recommend it. If you like serial killers, I would give this novel a read!

I don't like writing reviews for thrillers as they are often very spoilery so I will keep this very brief.
Her last move was very enjoyable, quite a few plot surprises that I didn't expect, and definitely didn't see coming. This is the second book I've read by John Marrs and he hasn't disappointed yet.

“Each person made his list because of what they had done”

One thing I love about John Marrs novels (the ones that I have read anyway) is that they start with a bang and don’t lose momentum. Don’t even get me started in the fact that I never figure out exactly how the books will end until Marrs hands me the answers.

While this book is more police procedural rather than 100% thriller, there were definitely parts that had my little chicken heart racing, and jumping at every noise in the house before I fell asleep.

There were some pretty gruesome moments, but if I was able to handle them then most people should be ok.

I am a huge fan of John's books and this did not disappoint me either. Another brilliant read. It's fast paced, dark, tense, thrilling, brutal, gripping and an edge of your seat read. Honestly amazing. It's very descriptive in parts which made my stomach turn a little. Gory.
The serial killer in this story has a plan, a very clever plan. He is always one step ahead of the team investigating him. It soon becomes personal and deadly for one of the team members. I actually cried towards the end and shouted NOOOOO. It really was a page turner of a read I didn't want to put down. But will the killer slip up? He believes he is killing for his benefit and others will understand but will they?
A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend.
