This was just a cute, sweet jock/nerd love story. What's not to love?

This is a quick, sweet story. These boys are young, both being 19 although they both seem older, maybe because of their life experiences.

Vincent is a socially inept introvert. He’s super intelligent. He doesn’t have many friends and doesn’t know how to make them. He probably should have been in the system but wasn’t. It seems like he's a jerk but just doesn’t know how to talk to people. As Cobey discovers, Vincent has not had a normal upbringing which molded his personality. Cobey helps Vincent come out of his shell and feel more comfortable in public situations.

Cobey is portrayed as the quintessential dumb jock which he seems to embrace and I’m not sure why. Vincent shows Cobey through football how to get through math class which helps Cobey realize he’s not as “dumb” as he thinks he is. Cobey seems a little too perfect, but I guess he balances Vincent’s sourpuss personality.

Overall, this is a quick, low-angst read. I would be interested in reading a book about Nate.

I really enjoyed this one, probably my favorite read of the week. I ignored the football parts, bc I just don’t care, but have heard they are incorrect, so if you’re a big fan, I’d recommended skimming those bits, as well. This is also mostly by the numbers, but the jock is so likable and the nerd is so vulnerable and defensive . . . their characters seemed a little crisper and more defined than in a lot of new adult college stories. Just a very enjoyable version of what it was. (And the newspaper article after the epilogue * clutches heart * -- so sweet!)

This felt very much like a N.R. Walker book. I’m glad I ended up reading this FU book last, because it ended up being my favorite out of them all.

Vincent and Cobey were so sweet together. Ugh, it was so lovely to listen to them fall in love. I loved that Vincent was such a sweetheart and that Cobey was too, no jock stereotype there. This is jock x nerd done the right way. My heart broke for Vincent but I’m so glad he and Cobey found each other. Vincent wearing Cobey’s jersey was oh so sweet.

I pretty much marathoned this. I very much enjoyed the audio too, being very positively surprised by Nick J. Russo. I loved his voice for Vincent. It’s one of those times when the audio really added a whole new dimension to the story, I can’t imagine it without it.
