The Damned series really has been quite a ride, while the series has an overall cohesive vibe, each book really has taken on a personality of its own. We started our journey in the dark underbelly of New Orleans and now our characters have find themselves in a totally different realm in the land of fae.

While it is hard to write a review for a third book in a series and not even the last book at that, I will say that this one was probably my favorite in the series. Why? PIPPA AND ARJUN. I really don't care what happens to anyone else at this point in the series but if you hurt my babies Renee then I will be seriously doubting my overall love for this series as a whole. Can the next book please have their POVs. For the love of all that is good and pure. Honestly their backstories were so well done, and their connection was so sweet. Any time the book was on their POV's I was hooked. I loved the magic system in these chapters along with the twist that I didn't see coming but really really enjoyed.

I was a little taken aback by how Celine and Bastien's relationship feels at this point. I feel like a lot of their chemistry has fizzled and Celine almost feels like a different character as she plays puppet to certain characters in this book. The ending was a little out there. There was A LOT to take in. It was like a band of all the evil villains came together and made a statement but you're not quite sure exactly what that statement was and who's on the right side of good vs. evil.

I definitely will go on to read the last book in this series, but mainly just to see if I get more of Pippa and Arjun, because currently at this point, the heart wants what the heart wants.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this, it’s always a gambol to follow a side character during the same series rather than a spin off (think A Heart so Fierce and Broken, spent the whole time waiting for a Rhen or Harper chapter) but this was done so well.

At about the hundredth or so page I realised we hadn’t seen Sebastian or Celine and when we did, I immediately wanted to go back to Pippa. She had such a story to tell and Celine was… kind of awful to Bastian.

So many fun tropes in this book, fake wedding, enemies (maybe friends or strangers) to lovers, found family. It really was a great read but that ending needed to be fleshed out a little, had no idea what Bastian was doing, I think the scene with Arjun and Pippa’s younger siblings would have been awesome.

I have a question though, who fired that arrow? My money is on Ari and it was planned from the beginning to incite war.

Was very skeptical going into this about the POV change making the side characters the main characters but I completely fell in love with them. Probably would have been a 5 star read if it wasn't for the random time jumps that made it feel like pieces of the story were missing. I'm still so confused about everything but can't wait to see how the series ends

*Thank you to the publisher for sending me an early copy in exchange for an honest review*

The Righteous is the enchanting third book in The Beautiful series by Renee Ahdieh. However, this book differs from the first two books in that it follows two different characters. The Righteous is Pippa and Arjun’s story, and, trust me, you don’t want to miss it.

This book picks up right after the events in The Damned. Pippa is worried about Celine and is desperately trying to find her. Meanwhile, Arjun and the Court of Lions are trying to find a way to save Odette. They decide the best course of action is for Arjun to go to Sylvan Vale and find a healer for Odette. However, what Arjun doesn’t expect is for Pippa to follow him to the fae realm.

I really enjoyed getting to know Pippa and Arjun better in this book. Ahdieh does an incredible job fleshing out Pippa’s character. We learn a lot about her in this book. In the previous books, Pippa was strictly a side character. Not much was known about her. In The Righteous, we get to see the real Pippa. The same happens with Arjun in this book. These two characters finally come to life for us readers, and I loved getting to know them. Plus, watching these two characters interact is endlessly entertaining. You can expect banter and flirtation.

A quote from Alice's Adventures Through the Looking Glass can be found before each chapter which I love. It helped set the tone of a dark fairytale where the setting is lush and beautiful yet deadly. Nothing is quite as it seems in this book. True to the lore of the fae, they are very sneaky creatures despite the fact they are not able to tell a lie. Fans of fae will definitely enjoy this book.

I can’t wait to see what for the next and final book! I’m not ready for this series to end yet. I could hang out with these characters forever. The sense of found family is a common thread throughout these books. Each character has felt out of place in society before. Then, they meet each other and finally have a family of their own. It’s so heartwarming. If you enjoyed the previous two books, I think you’ll enjoy Pippa and Arjun’s story. Arjun is the sweetest little cinnamon roll.

There is a REASON renée is one of my all time fav authors (usually tied with ruta sepetys). God she makes me FEEL THINGS. and omfg ALI!?!?!?! Are you for serious 😭😭😭😭😭😭

when i first started the book i was confused as to why pippa and arjun were the main characters. i ended up really loving their dynamic, tho. the few chapters we had of the other characters were weird though. bastian felt pretty in character as to the second book, but celine confused me so much. i don’t know, if i actually like her as much as i used to. arjun was a darling and i love him, but i just have to know what happens to my girl odette.

a more serious review comes probably later

OH MY GOD. THE ENDING. RENÉE IS MY HERO.

Although The Righteous wasn't the book I was expecting, it was still just as lovely as the previous two The Beautiful novels.

After the ending of The Damned, I expected more of the mystery storyline to come into play as well as the romance between Bastien and Celine. However, this didn't deliver much of that.

In The Righteous, it follows two side characters, Pippa and Arjun, who are basically the main characters of this novel. I wasn't a big fan of it at first, because I want Celine and Bastien 24/7. In The Righteous, we get a marriage of convenience between Pippa and Arjun, which I didn't expect, but the end result and romance were SO GREAT SO THANK YOU.

I think my main disappointment of this third installment bleeds into two different things.

My main complaint is we are introduced to a new character named Ali, who reveals himself to be a descendant of two other characters in Renee Ahdieh's previous series/ novels. This made me want to not read the other books because although I love things that take place in the same universe, I feel like now I have to read other things or that it was just rushed in there for **shock factor**.

The first 200 pages of the novel are completely Pippa and Arjun, but FINALLY, AT PAGE 204, WE GOT THE MAN HIMSELF, BASTIEN. <3 The Celine and Bastien content is exactly what I needed and once Arjun and Pippa embraced their new marriage and literal love for each other is when the book completely turned around for me. HOWEVER, THE ENDING IS MAKING ME UPSET AND I AM HURT.

There's also a new man added to the Celine-Bastien-Michael love pipeline thing, so hopefully, Ali is a redeemable character.
