There are two storylines in The Last Lie Told, which follows investigator Finley O'Sullivan who is looking into new evidence in an old murder case while dealing with her own trauma of being attacked and her husband being killed.

Finley's professional story is wrapped up by the end of this book but Webb has just scraped the surface of her personal story. I've read Debra Webb's The Undertaker's Daughter series which I loved and have a feeling this series will be just as good if the second book focuses more on Finley's personal life because I believe that is where the "good story" lives.

I'm giving The Last Lie Told 3 stars for setting the stage and will be picking up The Nature of Secrets to see what happens to with Finley next.

Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun mystery to try and figure out! No matter what was revealed in this story it was always just not quite enough to give you the real answer. I figured it out as the detective was laying it out for me, and what a perfect surprise it was. Not something I think anyone would guess right off the bat.

I did enjoy the other little details and tidbits about the detective's life as well. It helped keep her as realistically comparable as possible without taking from the main story. I will be watching for more great mysteries from this author.

Curious thriller this. Lots and lots of exposition and then all wrapped up very quickly. I spotted the main plot twist a mile away, sadly, so no major 'Scooby Doo' ending for me. A perfectly serviceable run of the mill thriller

the book was so slow moving in my opinion and BORING. and the ending with the “twins” was so insanely confusing until after it was over and then what was happening was finally explained. the twist at the end was interesting but not interesting enough to make up for how badly i wanted this book to be over with from the beginning.
