A blatant "not like other girls" character written in 2023?? What the hell? I couldn't stand the way Mary was written. Oh, she doesn't like pink lip gloss, she only wears dark lipstick. Her male roommates think she's so cool because they've never met a girl who plays video games. Have these men ever TALKED to a woman?
Mary doesn't give a fuck about wearing boy short underwear around her male roommates, she's just too cool to care. I think there was a way to write an "alternative" heroine without making her like this. Just don't draw attention to it. Don't comment on how different she is from other girls. Leo didn't.

this was a cute premise and reminds me of one of my favorite sports romances . It was set up to have all of the elements of that book:
- plus size FMC
- football player MMC who is a good man
- secret identities
- FMC knowing a secret MMC doesn’t
- pole dancing
But ultimately, this was so disappointing, one of the most crucial things a good book has that it shows you the story instead of tells you about the plot the things we saw on-page Was that the two characters wanted to fuck each other and their smut scenes. We were told that they developed an online relationship., we were told that they deeply love each other. We were told why the FMC was really mad at the MMC during the third act conflict.
I was originally going to give it three stars because the beginning was fun and cute however the epilogue pissed me off so bad (who announces a pregnancy at a wedding??? also not the main couple of this book so why was it in this book)

Mary is my girl & i want Leo to be my man!!! but also there was like way too much football talk lol i mean 50% in is where all the spice happens & then chapter 41 it’s like all my dreams came true~anyways super cute & i do really like kandi’s writing!

this is my favorite sports romance series so i'm sad that it's over. i've been reading this series slowly since 2022 because i wanted to savor it but i'm so excited to read kandi steiner's hockey romance series! some of my favorite things about this series is that unlike most of the sports romances i've read, the characters are fleshed out and the couples have emotional connections as well as chemistry and tension. that remains true in this one but there were just a few things i didn't like that prevented me from giving it a higher rating. the third act breakup was unnecessary in my opinion. i understand why she would be a little upset but at the same time, he didn't do what he did with the intention to hurt mary. i agree that he shouldn't have done it but i don't think it should've caused them to breakup. despite my problems with the third act breakup, i was actually debating between giving this a 3.5 or 4 star rating but ultimately decided on 3 because the day after i finished i had already forgotten most of the details. but overall, this was so fun and leo and mary were cute.
