A very engaging, well-written, and well researched little book! Nicely articulated arguments with well defined stakes and limitations, I just really enjoyed reading this!! The one area in which I found the discussion to be lacking was any sort of mention of how the spectrum of asexuality comes into this conversation, which I would be really interested in. Overall, though, would highly recommend!
i love rethinking the way we approach sex. i love this book. i love theory. and i love that reading stuff like this is what i get to do for a living.
Dense, academic read. But provides a profound backdrop to the socio-political context in which it means to participate in sex today. Many times throughout it, I had to put the book down and yell in frustration at the inequalities we're still combating. And many more times, I had to scroll TikTok to bring back some levity to the otherwise heavy subject matter.
It's opened my eyes on a lot of things, but did not provide as profound or direct path forward that I would have hoped, or that the title suggests.

ugh.
not sure if sex will be good again tomorrow, or ever!
this book frustrated me! like “everything is bad and it’s the fault of men (kinda) but actually not men but sOciEty” yeah okay! sure! but the countless citations without much analysis made it hard to follow (I found myself drifting off into my own thoughts and than having to reread pages multiple times) that, ultimately, I’m not sure what the authors point is :p

I just wasn’t particularly impressed with this book. There were certainly good points made but the author rarely if ever hit on intersectionality and how sex can be even more hard to navigate as POC or nonbinary or trans

For an academic-ish text I was pleasantly surprised by how readable it was. Too many books like this rely heavily on jargon but it was not the case this time. As a survivor myself I had to skip parts of chapter 1 because it stirred up bad stuff for me, but it’s otherwise a great book and still worth reading.
