This book is terrible. If I am going to read a romance-type book, I expect it to consist of about 75% plot/relationship issues and 25% romance. This book was the inverse of that. And what little plot there is, makes no sense. As for the romance, I actually skipped over a couple of chapters because it was BORING me. Do not recommend.

MMC is supposed to be a highly experienced dom but has no understanding of boundaries and consent. He's a manipulative bully who shows no respect for the FMC. The entire book felt like they were on the edge of getting it, maybe now it's about to get good, so I kept pushing. Wasn't worth finishing. Setting also felt contrived. While I've never been to New Orleans or lived in the swamp, I know enough to tell the author hasn't either. But if you like your MMC to be repeatedly described as smelling like swamp as he steamrolls the reasonable concerns and objections of your FMC while he
secretly records her having sex with him and sends it to a third party without her knowledge or consent
then this is the book for you!

Wanted this to be better. It kept popping up on recommended lists. But the main characters do most of their personal development in their own heads instead of having actual conversation with each other. That means some of the sex feels non-consensual, especially in the beginning of the book. We know she’s into it because we get to read her thoughts, but out loud she’s actually saying no. I think I’ve been spoiled by writers like Cherise Sinclair who fully understand boundaries, safe words, consent, etc.

Everything about this was awesome! Great story, super hot (I mean HOT!), well written characters, and a nice bit of intrigue. Loved it!

I was pulled right in from the beginning. It had a nice mysterious element and I liked the details being laid out. Jack and Morgan were great characters. Loved their chemistry. I liked their interactions and how they're details were learned. There was really good development. Jack and Morgan were beyond hot together. There was so much passion between them and they had extremely well written and detailed erotic scenes (with a nice bit of kink too!). The author is very descriptive and thorough.

There are ups and downs as feelings are fought, I loved the growth and acceptance they go through as there relationship works itself out. There are really nice secondary characters as well, Jack’s grandfather was adorable and Deke was way sexy! I'm hoping he has his own story at some point. This is the first book in a series and there are a ton of others out already so I am looking forward to reading more.

There was a really great build to the story and Jack and Morgan’s relationship, it was exciting to read. I liked the details and descriptions really pulling me into their erotic world. I mentioned this was hot right? Combustible might be a better description. It was such a great story but some parts were drawn out. Lots of narrative happening. It's dual POV which was awesome, I loved getting inside Jack’s head. Morgan could be frustrating since she was hanging onto who she thought she should be instead of accepting who she was but I loved watching that fight within herself and then finally getting her a-ha moment of understanding.

If you’re looking for something extremely hot with a nice bit of kink with the added bonus of intrigue, I'd definitely recommend this.

I enjoyed this book. I really liked Jack's grandfather. He was the perfect mischevious and cute old man kinda character. I like their romance. And i honestly didn't really expect who the stalker was. I would recommend this for anyone who likes hot romance.

Heavy D/s, a little menage, and a good plot. The chemistry was intense between Morgan and Jack. I thought all the ideas for the characters were well thought out and executed. It even had a little "who-done-it" action going on. Good story - made me want to read the next one as well.

Much as I am a sucker for a happy ending, I fully and firmly believe that Jack should have suffered a bit more and a lot longer for what he did in the name of revenge. Like in the context of how fast things moved with these two, I get that a week is a long time to be apart and wallow in the aftermath of his actions, but considering how meticulously he planned this whole revenge plot, I'd say he should have had to deal with that aftermath for at least half the duration of his planning period, so…18 months.

The plot twist that
it was Andrew this whole time that was stalking her and sending her the creepy notes and pictures
honestly felt a bit anticlimactic and like it was placed there for the sake of a plot twist.
Reggie had means, believable motive, and every single opportunity
, and for most of the book every single shred of evidence pointed in that direction, so the sharp turn in another direction gave me a case of whiplash so hard that my head still kind of hurts even after putting the book down. Ohh and also…the monologuing. Like I get that book villains (and not the affectionate kind) kind of have "cringe monologue" as a rite of passage, but taking into account that Morgan mentioned that "the sex was unsatisfying" and having him argue it with "we were elevating sex into art" just made me take a lap before I cackled the walls down.

But honestly overall at least it wasn't too insane like if
it had been the NFL player or the college boyfriend
that was tormenting her instead.

As for Morgan and Brandon's power dynamic abusing, stick up his heiny father though…I've got a bone to pick with him and I fully wanna challenge him to a boxing match. What in the actual fuck is wrong with that dude--

I didn't expect to like this book, judging from the first BDSM book I've read which I've abandoned (the famous Fifty Shades if you ask), it traumatized me with the genre. I have come to terms with myself that BDSM won't be one of my favorite ingredient in reading a romance novel, I was totally convinced with that truth. The idea of Dominance-Submission wasn't that appealing to me, with all due respect to those who does.

That was my opinion until I've read Wicked Ties. Culture shocked and recoiled with self-shame from my Catholic self yet entertained and intrigued all the same. Sure there were a lot of R18 scenes on this read which kinda zoned me out from my comfort but I love how Ms. Black made me understand BDSM: trust, respect, pleasure with pain, and fun. I love how she took the characters one step at a time from exploring each other to falling for one another, I love the mix of mystery and thrill of Morgan's stalker. I appreciate the hint idea of destiny. Romantic but not mushy which is A for me (Great job!) and I love Ms. Black's writing, thank gaaahd it didn't gross me out, it was done flawlessly with the right amount of sexy.

Jack's French added everything to the spice romance and sexy, I love Deke and his friendship with Jack and Brandon is a character I want to discover more. This book is the first that I've read from Ms.Black and this won't be the last. I've had a taste and I'd be coming back for more 😊.

No one, not even old Cajun paw paws and maw maws, use "cher" as often as Jack "Master J" Cole does. There were a lot of clues (whipping up a gumbo instead of laboring all day, lack of reference to Louisiana's crazy weather considering the outfits they're wearing, lack of camo in the swamp camp, too many French phrases in Jack's vocabulary) that made it clear the author did enough research to write a Cajun romance novel, but not enough research to actually have the Cajun setting enhance the story she wanted to tell.

Which, honestly, is a very contrived story to begin with. But really, the part that jumped the shark was when Jack kept forcing Morgan to confront her deviant nature, literally, and making her agree to his confining demands instantly. While this may work for some couples, it's really best if they, you know, actually talk and agree about how this type scenario should occur first.

Maybe this is just a rocky start and things get better from here. But I'm not invested enough to stick around and find out.
