Definitely not a thriller, overall enjoyed the book. Caught on mid book to all of what was happening. Towards the end was a bit drawn out almost like more pages were demanded but enjoyed the ending and epilogue.

I think I was in the wrong mindset for this book. I was expecting a thriller. This isn’t a straightforward thriller, although it’s suspenseful for sure. If I’d read it as lit fic, I would have liked it a lot more, I think.

The first half of the book is confusing. There’s a twist, and then you figure out why everything was so confusing. I’m not sure it turned out to be an enjoyable read, though.

3 1/2 stars. I was baffled for the first half, especially when everything in Autumn’s life was starting to unravel at an alarming pace. The second part was redeeming, but didn’t quite make this amazing.

I thought this book was well-written and interesting. The writing style captured the inside of the narrator's head really well. However
the 'twist' that was revealed about 65% of the way through the book is a trope I really hate. I would not have read this book if I had known that was going to be what happens going in. I finished it because I felt invested in the character and the writing was good, but it just was not for me. No fault of the author.

Thoughts

I am not sure why this book isn't talked about more?

I thought it was really good and had a twist I wasn't expecting, which I might have picked up on if I was reading verus listening.

I am not sure if this is literary or thriller but it had great social commentary and kept me engaged the entire time.

Autumn's sister— Summer— disappears one day but nobody seems worried but Autumn. She can't seem to get anyone to look for her or take her serious. And as the story unfolds and you learn more the harder it is to stop reading.

The prose was amazing. What a way to tell the story.

ETA: This book was so good. I am still thinking about it days later. I would say, don't read the book description, just go in blind.
