Just, wow. What a fantastic sequel if I do say so myself. Seeing them apart and trying to live their lives with so much pain broke my heart. But, of course their were happy moments as well. I am going to leave at that and say that I really enjoyed this novel!

Can there be anything worse in this life than being separated from your love, not knowing where they are or even if they are alive, while you are alone trying to survive the worst war the world has ever known? This is where our characters find themselves in this book. This is a book about the agonizing side of love, about sacrifice, difficult decisions, endurance, and never giving up. It is painful to read at times and takes a lot of patience. This book kept me on my toes til the very last page.

I thought if they weren't together most of the book it would be annoying and boring but I was wrong. I really liked how it goes through scenes with Alexander in war. I found them to be really interesting.

”We walk alone through this world, but if we’re lucky, we have a moment of belonging to something, to someone, that sustains us through a lifetime of loneliness.”

4 stars. It took me entirely too long to finish this book because December decided to kick me in the face health wise and I just didn’t have the strength, but when I was reading it and actually in the story, I thought this was book was better than the first one by a long shot. The character development between Alexander and Tatiana was fantastic and they both have grown so much.

This one was much easier to get into and I loved the fact that they spent majority of it apart because it made for some fantastic angst. Years go by of them trying to get back to each other and it was so heartbreaking. I admit, I was not here for the romance in the last one, and there’s still some moments where Alexander makes me nervous, but for the most part I was all for their love story here. It’s engrossing and captivating and you really do feel for them when everything keeps getting in their way.

I can’t really say too much about this one without spoilers, but it really was a great read. The writing is amazing; Simons way with words is admirable. She really knows how to paint a picture and set the mood. This book evoked a lot of emotions out of me, mainly anger and sadness and then in the end I was very content. It ends just right and does make me eager to get to book three sooner rather than later.

Tatiana and Alexander’s story is very much the epitome of an ‘epic romance’ and I get it now. I want the absolute best for these two, especially after all the shit they went through in this book but I have a feeling that book three is going to be the one to break me. I’m excited, honestly.

Overall, a fantastic installment in the series and I am anxious and excited to see how their story wraps up.

How is this even possible? Paullina Simons destroys my heart over and over. This book was as good as the first one and now I'll probably need half an year to recover enough to read the last one.
