At first when I began reading this story I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it, I had my doubts about Emmabelle but you grow to like her throughout the book even though sometimes she gets really annoying. I did really enjoy Devon's character throughout the whole story, he's past about his dad... what a douche. Emmabelle's flashback was crazy interesting to....did not expect that outcome.

Overall I enjoyed the book, not my favorite from the Boston Belles but still good in it's own way.

- Royalty Romance
- Opposites Attract
- Arranged Pregnancy
- Troubled Past

Awesome read

I loved how we got to see what made Devon and Belle the people they are today. I definitely recommend to heed the trigger warning at the beginning of the book. I loved the way Belle and Devon interact between each other, calling each other names and just out for the good time, while underneath it all there's really a deep affection for the other. They just don't recognize it because they both have sworn off love and relationships.

I liked this series so much and honestly I feel a bit disappointed on this last installment.

I hated Belle on some chapters, yeah I get it she had a traumatic experience as a teen, and then witnessed her father’s cheating but what she needed was therapy not just self defense classes.

I hated how at times it seemed she thought all the other girls were weak and she was the only accomplished and strong one, the only independent one.

I hated how toxic she was to herself even when she knew she was being toxic and how she kept comparing Devon with her coach when time and time again he tried to make things work.

I hated how little communication these two had for more than half of the book.

I hated how she magically got cured of all her toxic thoughts without professional help.

And I hate how she kept her secret to herself even when she had hundreds of chances to lean on her friends and learn to forgive herself for being a kid and naive and falling in the hands of a predator.

After the villain I was so excited for this book and maybe that’s one of the reasons why it felt like it didn’t deliver but that’s the sad true.

Also I hated there was no epilogue for all couples :(

The best end to a series that has completely stole my heart. I really really don’t want this to be the end of the Boston belles

I had an itch for a planned pregnancy romance, and The Rake scratched it quite nicely.

Belle has fertility issues that make it necessary for her to get pregnant as soon as possible if she ever wants to have a child. The problem is that she is allergic to relationships, and she is also financially unstable. Enter Devon Whitehall, a wealthy Marquis. He is a well-known womanizer for whom marriage or even relationships are out of the question. However, he is interested in producing an heir to pass on his royal title. It’s a match made in Heaven.

Belle has a deep distrust of men that goes back to some pivotal events in her teenage years. She works overtime to push men away and squash the possibility of any romantic feelings. Despite her hostile behavior, Devon is enchanted by her. On the one hand, I really felt for Belle and understood the reason for her volatility. On the other hand, I kept wondering why Devon was so attracted to her when she treated him poorly. It is difficult to sympathize with her at times. Even so, I enjoyed the magnetic attraction between Devon and Belle and rooted for them to be a real couple.

Devon’s relationship with his dysfunctional royal family is like a juicy soap opera that I wanted to enjoy with a bowl of popcorn. Some developments towards the end seem rushed and haphazardly thrown together, but all’s well that ends well.

I liked the dangerous mystery element. It creates a little extra excitement. I admit I didn’t understand how Belle could treat the health and safety of her and her baby so cavalierly when her pregnancy was high risk though.

The audiobook is wonderful, with Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell turning in fantastic performances—with British accents no less. Arden is particularly emotional in his portrayal of Devon. I highly recommend it.

I liked the book, it is an easy, fun read.
But I also have a couple of things I didn’t like so much. It all felt a little rushed, which makes sense considering the tropes of the book, but I still would have wished for a more meaningful connection. I didn’t really notice the switch from like to love and I also don’t think that they would stay together after the book.
I also would have wished them to talk a little bit more about their traumas. In both Belle and Devon it was the main reason for their flaws but then they never actually talked about them or worked on them.

I still give it a 3/5 because I read a lot of the authors other books and so I knew what I was expecting and I wasn’t disappointed at all. As I said at the top, it was an easy, fun read and everyone who likes those kind of books will probably like this one too, but please always consider trigger warnings.
