Fast paced with short chapters and 3 main  POVs made it a very easy quick read which I completed in 2 sittings!

I enjoyed the writing style with the details provided - particular in the surgical scenes. I found the main character Dr Jones  interesting though wish we had more depth
Like why she suffers from Trichophagia and her triggers
- the other 2 POVs of  Rachel and Margot were a bit lack luster.

I had very high expectations with the plot but felt a little let down as 2 of the 3 POVs are provided to create these sub plots which just felt surface level and a bit disappointing and the main plot twist was something I did predict at the 70% mark so wasn’t as impactful as it could have been.

The fact Margot was never pregnant - this realisation just feel so flat for me in the end. The request of Dr Jones about killing Margot as a final betrayal was a bit predictable given we knew that she wanted to talk in private with the gunmen and had already established she didn’t have the blackmail money

I did like the final chapter resolve a lot at it did give an eeriness to the end of book which I liked but overall I feel that it would of been a stronger story if focused on delving deeper into Dr. Jones’ POV instead of the other 2.

I personally would rate this higher than 5 if possible. The chapters are short and packed with twists and gasps. The characters are great and you even feel sorry for the people you shouldn’t. The best book I’ve read in years

My son has been taken and my option is to either kill a patient on the operating table or never see my son again…

This is a very interesting and unique moral dilemma, medical thriller with a stark contrast of characters and POVs.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the characters, despite so much focus on character flaws which is something I usually adore but I think I just didn’t know the characters enough, which made it hard for me to care or like them. However, the plot enticed me enough to continue reading.

Some parts did feel like waffle, whereas other parts felt rushed like the ending. Due to the rushed ending, I had a lot of unanswered questions. I do think that the book could have been shorted and still had the same impact. Apart from this, I really enjoyed the writing style and thought it conveyed the feelings that Anna and Rachel would have been feeling very well in particular.

⚠️ CWs: murder, kidnapping, medical content, drug use, gun violence, blood, grief, medical trauma, person with substance use disorder, death, violence; mentions child abuse, trafficking ⚠️

honestly i thought this was funny, apart from all the medical procedures described which made me SICK TO MY STOMACH. i had to read descriptions about rib retractors and its going to haunt my very dreams.
