I honestly loved this series. This book was a bit harder to get through with the miscommunication trope playing a have roll but I still loved it overall.

First of all, THANK YOU to @lynz_reads for pushing these books so hard lol, the influence was real and well worth it!
These books are GOOOOOOD y’all. Like good good. Think Sons of Anarchy meets Robin Hood with a Ravenhood vibe. Oh and Colton, our MMC is 100% Jax Teller… mmhmm *wipes the drool off her chin*
There’s definitely a comparison to be made to The Ravenhood Trilogy, there’s a lot of similarities and yet it’s really different. There are aspects of this series that I liked more and aspects of the other that I prefer. For one, I loved Rylee, she was so damn relatable albeit a little naive at first but the way her character develops is absolutely perfect. I would take her over Cecilia every damn time. This isn’t a why choose, which we all know I love lol, but it’s damn good regardless. One of the reasons it’s so good, Emmerson can write a spicy scene, WELL. Oooh boy. The way I messaged Lynz and was like

Just like with ‘September Doves’, I had to take 3-5 business days to recover after this one.
I need y’all to immediately download the Jackals & Vipers duet.
Be prepared to cry, gasp, blush, cuss, & love every moment.
This book healed my soul.

The way I am in love with all these characters. This is my new roman empire and new fav series. Rylee for starters is a damn spitfire, a lil firecracker, a damn TIGER!! She won't take your shit and will hold her own. The banter between her and Colt is absolutely delicious. And their love is will freaking devour you. I can't even begin to explain how my heart was at my damn throat all through the second book waiting for a certain someone to come to their damn senses. I understood the actions taken completely but they also didn't have to go into it alone. A lone wolf doesn't survive without his pack. Each character in this is so easy to fall in love with and absolutely adore. The way they all truly welcome her in with open arms and respect her. She gained the family she never had with them. "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water in the womb".
My only wish is for an extended epilogue so I can attend a certain party. But I absolutely love the way this ends. Truly an amazing ending.

*Please check the author's website for any content/trigger warnings that may affect you.* This is a new adult/adult book that may have themes/situations/content not suitable for some readers. This is an 18+ read.
This is the second book in the Jackals and Vipers duet, but it is not a standalone. You'll need to read September Doves prior to reading Summer Sparrow.
To say that this book utterly broke my heart and methodically put it back together is only how I can begin to describe how this book impacted me. This is the second book in the duet and picks up where the first book concluded. The book starts with Riley and Holly's time in Boston in the aftermath of the events back in Eden. Riley faces a challenge being in Boston under the protection of the Vipers, and Colton cannot be with her. This has dire consequences and eventually leads to a series of mistakes, misunderstandings , and hurt feelings that badly strain relationships. Ultimately, Riley and Colton try to save Eden and keep everyone safe from threats on multiple fronts.
Summer Sparrow fully embodies the idea that forgiveness and redemption must be earned, but that it is possible when you have people around you who love you no matter what. Colton desperately wants to protect the ones he loves and keep them safe, and is willing to go that hard road alone, but he comes to realize that he doesn't need to bear those burdens by himself. This exemplifies the kind of character growth that is seen throughout and I found it very convincing that there was not a fast and easy fix to the utter heartbreak caused by Colton's decisions. He is a man of action and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get Riley back. I was so invested in Riley and Colton's relationship and shed some honest to God tears at the way this all played out. This book is an emotional journey, but so worth it for the ending. Even though the Jackals have lost so much, they prove time and again that love, family, and friendship can help you weather the worst of storms. There are also some great new characters that are introduced that fully round out the cast, strengthen the sense of found family, and make the story all the more endearing.
