While I thought the first book in this duet had me in shambles, the second one had me ripped to pieces! With new characters, new spicy scenes, bigger plot twists and tears in a few different chapters, I can say this one definitely takes the cake! It’s a bit darker as we witness her struggle with trauma, but overall a great read!

5 kajillion 🌟
I expected nothing less from the queen. When i tell you this one had ALL THE DRAMA AND ALL THE FEELS. A very well depiction of PTSD, like she did such a good job and showing and not telling in that aspect. Ive had such a great time reading this series, my only critique is that THERE ISNT ANYMORE FOR ME TO CONSUME 😭😫🥹
ALSO (No spoilers) im PRETTY sure that this woman took off a good 7 years off my life at the end!!! I have also openly described my love for Colton Archer openly and unapologetically, HOWEVER NO ONE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD SWOON FOR RILEY TOO. Now i want them both and I DONT KNOW what to do with that emotion.
Thank you sooooo much
I had the time of my life this is now a favorite series of mine and im gonna force all the book girlys and boys to read this ☺️💪🏾💖👏🏽

This book was so good! First, I loved how this book was in dual POV. I liked that we got to read what both Rylee and Colton were going through and what they had to overcome. When we left off in September Doves, Rylee and her sister had leave Eden and go hide out with the Vipers, a group led by their father who does some shady things, opposite of what the Jackals stand for. Rylee faces uncertainty with Colton, who was out doing what he deemed was best for the group, leaving Rylee to wonder where they stand. Over the next few months, Rylee grew angry. She knew nothing about Colton’s motives and why he was doing what he was doing and finally decided, enough is enough. All this time, Colton was being asked to do things he didn’t want to do and being blackmailed by someone who used to be trustworthy. He thought he was doing what he needed to do to protect the Jackals, all the while making himself feel like absolute garbage. When everyone reunited, Colton had burned some bridges and needed to repair them, especially with Rylee. He had only seen her once in the last year and it broke him to lie to her and his brothers. When Rylee saw Colton after all that time she was still as angry as ever, but wanted to put aside the past and do what was best for the group and that was to take down the evil man and his company who hurt the town long ago. As the Jackals get closer and closer to redemption, Rylee finds out what Colton has been up to, and they start to mend their relationship. After all was said and done, Colton knew from day one that Rylee was his person and that he would protect her at all costs, even if that meant him getting caught in the crossfire. These two had an unbelievable connection and she loved to push his buttons and give him sass, but he took it all in stride and loved that she could be herself around him. Like I said before, the found family vibe is one of the best things about this duet. The length these men and women go to protect the ones they love is amazing! Summer Sparrow was quite a long book, but it never felt like it dragged. There was always action, so it was easy to keep reading and not get bored!

The ending of this duology was EVERYTHING. It was all the action packed excitement and perfect sweetness I needed. Knowing this was the end of this story made me so sad 😭

In this second and final book, Rylee ends up leaving the Jackals (Colton included) and heading to the vipers den.

The plot of the duology as a whole was literally so amazing. This could be an entire 10 season TV series and I’d watch the hell out of it. The emotions, the secrets, the EVERYTHING.

Book one was already amazing so I was extremely happy that Emmerson straight up DELIVERED for book two. AS SHE SHOULD’VE.

This entire family of characters will forever be engraved into my brain, I’ll always love the jackals and even the “viper prick” too.

Such an amazing read.

I loved book 1, September Doves, that I read it a couple of times, and it is still a book that I think about on a constant basis.

I do have to admit that the first quarter of the book was a bit slow to me, but when it picked up ... it picked up! This did not affect the rating in any sense because it needed to happen to conclude the story.

I definitely did not see some of these twists and turns, and I am very fond of the way the author presents them and then executes them.

Colton and Rylee are always going to be 🫠
I was sad not to see them together in the first half of the book, but I was surely enjoying them getting to enjoy those stolen moments together.

*I really loved the added bonus of the POVs ... there is always something about having a "dedicated" section to the character and their thoughts.

If you have not read about Colton, go pick up this series now!

If I could give this 7 stars I would. This was such a wild rollercoaster of a journey and I loved every second of it! I have nothing bad to say about this book. The story, the characters, the romance , it was all great. I feel like I've read no less than 3 books, that’s how much plot and story there was in this!

Alright, all the feels, tension, and desire to throw the Kindle. This book has it all.
Tension, action, spice, and a lot, lot more. I couldn't put it down and read it in like 4 days, give or take.

Full disclaimer, READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. This book is not for the faint of heart, and I don't usually read books like this. But I read the first one and NEEDED to find out what happened after. Curiously the book does read like two different books. Part 1 and 2 feel different, and in hindsight, it could have been two separate books. But it doesn't take away from the experience at all.

The only thing, for me at least, is I would not be able to re-read this book again. At least not as a whole. I'd probably read sections that I enjoyed the most, but that is just my personal preference and nothing against the quality of the book, or the author's style.
