Can I give this six starts, please?

Top Read of 2023 for me!

This is the second book of the Jackals and Vipers Duet, and in Summer Sparrows the action is now split between Rylee and Colton as they each pursue their narrative arcs. But here the author moves into masterfully used dual POV giving voice and intimate knowledge of both Rules and Colton as characters that left me literally talking to my book.  Picking up right where book one ended, this part of The Jackals story will take over your imagination as you speculate how the story will resolve, and leave your jaw dropping open several times with what actually does occur on the page.  This is a powerhouse of a story that follows as The Jackals recover, adapt, and grow from the events of Book One told with the best suspense and carefully written tension that made Book One such a success for me.  Building from  the authors consummate narrative skill and keen eyes for characterization, this book has  an ending that will have you holding your breath until you turn blue!

I would absolutely recommend reading the previous book 'September Doves' first as this is the most outstanding, well-constructed duology I have read in a long time! The books complement each other beautifully and both had me gasping out lod on more occasions than can be considered healthy!

(Have you read Septemner Doves? Good, then I shall continue)

Oh. My. Life. After the brutal cliffhanger of September Doves, Colton and Rylee havea big personal journey ahead of them, both separately and in their relationship. There are answers and insights to questions raised in Doves and much more besides, all woven in an artistic, thoughtful and intelligent way

Hoyt has a great skill of keeping you interested in the narrative and curious to learn more. Not just following the storyline, but about the characters and their origins.

Another great thing about Hoyts characters, is that you want to learn everything about them and when you 'think' you have it all figured out, or you know everything about them, a whole new (and unique) trope hits you like a freight train out of nowhere

Perfectly spicy in context, fantastic character development and world building and absolutely chefs kiss. Glorious!

This book was a wild ride. I really enjoyed the ride though! Haha 😂 I loved that the answers we needed from book one were given and then some.  I loved that we got our HEA, but not gonna lie it was touch and go there sometimes that I was mad at some characters to be honest 🫤.

I will say I loved everything about this book, even the times I was mad at them. I do wish we got a little more in the end. I don’t know I felt like it was just a dead stop, but maybe I just wasn’t ready for it to be over…. Which could honestly be it… haha 😆

I am so glad I read this duology! Such a fun and good read!

Love. Love. Love. It’s such a great companion to September doves. It is longer and covers quite a bit of time, but it was so worth it. This is an immediate continuation of Book 1. September Doves is a must-read. It has a great flow. While the time line is longer, I never felt like it was taking too long to get to the point.
I love Mac and would definitely love some kind of spin-off even a novella. I would also like to see more of Danny’s relationship situation. Everything fell together well throughout the book. Amazingly satisfying conclusions to this duet that’s been on my mind for months!

‼️ Must read September Doves first‼️ This is a companion novel ‼️

I have been impatiently waiting for the final book in the Jackals & Vipers Duet and Summer Sparrow did not disappoint! It did take me a bit longer than I expected because I didn't know it was 600+ pages, but don't let that scare you! While most romances don't need that many pages, I feel like this one did for a couple different reasons. 1) This second chance romance actually seems legit because the second chance did not happen immediately. 2) Everything that happened would not have been possible in a shorter book - both timeline wise and detail wise. I'm so glad Emmerson Hoyt decided to make this longer so we weren't left with a story that felt incomplete.

Now this one is a slow burn, and while the romance is a pretty big plot line, the smut isn't. But when there is smut, it is filled with so much tension and I just ate it up. I also love that this wasn't just romance. I love what the Jackals do, and I loved getting to see more of that in Summer Sparrow.

The ending was definitely a whirlwind of action, but not in a way that jumbles everything together. It all wraps up so nicely. Though I do wish we had a look into Holly’s life. Maybe another book? I’d love to see her new life.

This is only the author's second book, but I cannot wait to see what else she's going to put out.

I absolutely fell in love with the story and the characters in book 1, September Doves. The sequel became one of my most anticipated reads for this year, and it 100% did not disappoint. It brought out all the emotions and was one of the best emotional rollercoasters I've ever experienced. Part 1 was rough and had me throwing my Kindle at times, but I get it now. Without all of that, we would've never been able to appreciate the absolute masterpiece that was this duet. I'm so in love with these characters and this story as a whole. It's one of those stories that claims a piece of your heart. I'm going to miss Colton and Rylee and the whole town of Eden so much; they become so real to me. But I honestly could not have wished for a better ending for them.

The depth of these characters is my favorite part. They are so incredibly written, with so many layers about them. I just love all of them so much. If you're looking for a book that will make you - ache, laugh, cry, scream, and get horny all wrapped in a singular book, this one is for you!
