Started off strong. Then wayyy too many elements in the story. Conducted in 1st person but there wasn’t a name card on the chapter or POV so it took a few chapters to learn who was “speaking”.

DNFed at 30% for a combination of things. Overall, this reads like Wattpad and I’m completely unsure what all of the hype is about. The MMC is misogynistic and rude. The FMC just kind of lets it slide, all the while waxing poetic about his goatee. His reasoning for staying away - and it’s repeated several times is that he can’t “shit where he eats”. But on top of that it’s horrible sentence structure, chapters as thick as a pencil, unlabeled POV changes that feel chaotic… i actively tried to read to the first spice scene and it was cringe-worthy, and all of the sudden the 26-year-old FMC is a virgin. I couldn’t imagine going through the entire 500 pages of it.

Edit on 6/18, 2 days after I read this book- I'm bumping this up to 5 stars. The difference between a 4 and 5 star book for me is the way it hits me emotionally, if I'm going to re-read it... I can't really explain except it's a gut feeling for me. I didn't return this book in KU, I went back and started highlighting it and have been constantly re-reading my favorite passages. So, def a 5 star and new fav!

Wow! Did I love this more than Brynne Asher’s Killers series?! Maybe…

This was a single dad, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity romance.

After a guy knocks his huge drink onto her, Paige is shocked when the grumpy guy who refused to apologize turns out to be the dad to the kids she’s watching for a week. (They live next door to her sister, and Paige is watching them and her nephews after a summer camp while her sister’s out of town.)

Cam is divorced, has two jobs (one of which is his own business), a crazy ex… he shouldn’t be drawn to Paige, who’s sweet and a little absent minded and younger than him, but he is.

The chemistry between them is hot fire flames. I don’t like romances with pregnancy but something about single parent romances give me the warm fuzzies. Cam’s kids were so cute and watching the relationship form between them and Paige was adorable. I do wish after the third act conflict we got more of the relationship repair between Paige and Jordy, we never got to see them 1:1 after that.

This book is almost 500 pages and I read it in one sitting. You just ROOT for them both so much.

TW: stalking, guns, mental health issues

i struggled to finish this. the men in this book are overbearing to a point where it’s not fun or sexy anymore.

I like a possessive man as much as the next girl but there were some red flags for me in Cams behavior 1. He never listened to Paige when she would tell him to stop or when she would try to get away from him. I don’t like that she didn’t have much agency in their relationship 2. In situations when Paige has a full right to be upset and needs comfort from Cam, she ends up having to take care of his big emotions and hers get pushed to the side. 3. The communication is awful, cam just bulldozes these important conversations and he is not forthright about his ex.
I don’t think cam is a bad person but these behaviors were def not my cup of tea, especially when he punches a whole in that poor baby’s nursery wall. A man prone to uncontrollable rage??? Big red flag.

Cam might be my new book boyfriend! Another great one by Brynne Asher. I don't know where we go from here but there better be more!

A great book and a great series

The 3rd book in the series is every bit as good as the first 2. I loved Cam and Paige together. Brynne Asher’s characters and twists and turns make for the best “can’t put this book down” stories. I just recently discovered this author and I am hooked! So thankful she has chosen to share her gift of writing with us.
