Virkeligt en gribende bog der både fik mig til at græde flere gange og være så sur at jeg var nødt til at fortælle alle omkring mig om handlingen. Selvom jeg havde på fornemmelse at jeg havde gættet slutningen kom den stadig med flere twist og handlinger jeg ikke havde set komme på lang afstand på samme måde. Jeg vil virkeligt anbefale at alle læser denne bog, men specifikt at man hører den som lydbog hvis man kan fordi oplæseren (Isabella Star LaBlanc) er virkeligt god og gav en  følelse og forståelse af historien jeg ikke havde opnået ved at læse selv.

I loved so much about this book. I loved the Native perspective and use of language, imagery, ways of knowing, respect for elders... All of it. It was wonderful to listen to with a truly masterful young voice. 
In general, I do not love action/adventure stories where one implausible exciting thing piles on top of the next. Drugs! Murder! Violence!  Running wildly through the woods! Etc! I just find it unrealistic enough that I lose the plot. No one's life is like that. 
But the parts I liked outweigh the implausible parts, so, yeah, a good rating!

I was invested from start to finish, partly I think due to the story and partly to the storytelling and Daunis’s perspective. I think Daunis’s perspective and voice as someone who distrusts law enforcement, as just a person wanting to help her community and tribe and using her own history and knowledge to do it, make it much more complex and engaging than a typical crime-solving drama.

I really enjoyed it overall, but the pacing was hard. It took a long time to read because I kept falling into slumps.

This book heavily involves police work. No direct physical brutality is displayed, but the emotional and other consequences of using outside policing in a native community is apparent. In the end,

several characters do not get the justice they are seeking, and characters who have committed crimes are not treated equally by the judicial system. Murdered and missing indigenous women are discussed. The story ends hopefully, but shows there is a lot of work to be done.
