The writing is not spectacular, but the writer was 23 years old, so I thought that was impressive. It is a sweet story - I have to admit, I enjoyed the movie as well...certainly some differences. Overall, a nice Xmas season/holiday read.

I loved this book. It was sweet, it was sad, it was funny. Just like the quote inside the dust jacket promised.

I loved the main character as she slowly and clumsily tried to rebuild her life into something, anything after the death of her husband. Her friends and family supported her and helped her along the way. How wonderful for her darling late husband to send her encouragement and inspiration in the form of The List, something they had joked about but Holly never expected Gerry to actually carry out.

Lovely, lovely book.

Note: I really had a hard time imagining Hilary Swank as the lead in the movie version. Perhaps it is now set in the United States? Or she picks up an Irish accent? I'm guessing that Harry Connick Jr is Daniel. Again, can't quite picture it. Perhaps, like Bridget Jones the casting really does work to bring the book to life? But I don't know. I'll rent the movie when it comes out on DVD to see.

2021 Note: I'm listening to the audiobook before revisiting Holly in Postscript. It's been so long since I read the book that I wanted to refresh my memory.

this is the worst written book i've read in awhile. the prose is draining and so slow. i know this is considered chick lit and that is why it is so horrible but still, that pertains to the plot rather than writing style. holly was so insufferable and i just couldn't stand how she based her whole life on a man's decisions for her, it was just ridiculous. the book did not need to be 500 pages long. this could have been wrapped up in 350 or less. this book was a big waste of time. literally do not read this unless you have to, i was forced to read this for a college course

This isn't a book I would have normally picked out for myself, but I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't depressing as one might expect, it being about a woman coping with her husband's death and all. It was actually quite uplifting. The characters were fun and interesting, and the story moved along at a steady pace. The writing style was a little bit ametureish, but it really didn't matter. The story was firmly in place and all the characters were believable. It didn't end quite how I expected it to, but that was fine.

This book was just OK. I actually liked the movie better. The little twists weren't very twisty thus making them a breeze to figure out. I found it harder to believe than the movie. All in all, not that great.

World's most poorly written book! How did this get published??? There was no subtly to the writing, she just hit you over the head with every character emotion. The attempt at witty banter between characters also missed the mark.

So different from the movie, but they are both wonderful

meh. queria mas de las cartas, mas romance, mas amor q nos hicieran entender pq estaba tan deprimida
