Skylar is a country music star on the run from burnout, pressure, and a world that never lets her breathe. She's fierce but vulnerable, and watching her peel back her layers felt so real and relatable. Then there’s West; the gentlest, grounded horse trainer and single dad with a quiet strength and a heart the size of Rose Hill. I mean... I knew I was going to love him, but I was not prepared for how soft he would make me feel.
Their meet-cute is one of the most chaotic and hilarious I’ve ever read (Tesla. Bear. Enough said), but what unfolds after that is this slow, intimate unraveling of two people who have been carrying so much weight, finally finding peace in each other.
But it’s not just the romance that makes this book shine, it’s the found family. Cherry, the absolute menace of a parrot, had me wheezing with laughter. That bird is chaotic, unhinged, and somehow exactly what this emotionally loaded story needed. And the kids - Ollie and Emmy- are precious in a way that never feels forced. Emmy’s mischief and big emotions, Ollie’s sweetness and quiet strength... they added so much warmth and heart to every scene.
If you're a fan of romances that balance softness with strength, characters with real emotional journeys, and love stories that feel earned, this is the book for you. Wild Eyes doesn’t just give you butterflies, it gives you roots.
Elsie Silver, I’m in my feels. Again.

It fell a bit flat for me, since I feel there was some parts that I wanted to see more of.
I know all doesn’t have to involve Fort, and I haven’t read the first book, so it’s not because of attachment to earlier characters. I did find it lacking in the studio department. Of course it would be bland to hear about it non stop, but to not hear it at all almost other than from west’s perspective? I think I just must have had some other idea of it in my head.
I did like that she had taken the time to write two songs, even though I could only imagine one of them to be one I would listen to.
The last thing I want to point out of the things I think could be better, was the grammar.
I know I don’t have the perfect grammar- English is my second language.
But since the author must have had it proof read, I can’t see how all of 6 grammar mistakes that was for example that she had typed the same word twice right after the other. Of course some words do that, but this was if I remember correctly “were”. Some other grammar mistakes was present to where the sentence just was weirdly written.
Either way, it was still a fun read. It was a good relaxing book, to read if you have read something g right paced and need to settle your mind down.
The whole vibe of the book is cozy, and essentially the meaning of the book is quite nice.
