Being a 32 year old man, I generally steer clear of YA fiction. But, hypocritically, I’m also a 32 year old man on Tik Tok and Tik Tok seemed to love this novel enough that I figured I should check it out. The book is good for what it is: a trans-centered take on romantic comedy tropes. It might have been nice to see the story depart in its own direction rather than being constrained by those tropes but I respect the author’s commitment to the formula they chose.

Nobody dies, no one even gets beat up (though one trans man gets puked on) so it was fun, light, and charming in its own way.
hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

I gotta admit, it took me a little bit to get into this story. It started as general romance and while I enjoyed the characters, the plot itself didn’t have me.
Then we got halfway through, and I stayed up til 6am reading it. Whoops.
I don’t want to spoil the story, but I got the ending I wanted and MORE. Absolutely loved it.

3.5 stars. Can’t decide if I round up or down for the rating.

The MC was a flawed character, which feels so relatable and true for a 16 year old. I really loved the ending was true to the character and there was growth, but not too much to seem unrealistic for one summer.

Very cute. Listened to it on audio.

This was not for me. The concept of the story was lovely but totally ruined by the most annoying and unlikeable main character. Devin was the star of this book, I'd gladly read about em. Em deserves much better then what em got in this book.

Just not my style. The main character is a bit annoying in his expectations of relationships and overanalysis

5 stars!

This was indeed SUPER CUTE! I already had high expectations going into this book and it really delivered.

Meet Cute Diary follows Noah on his journey of trying to save his blog of anonymous meet cute stories for trans teens. When someone exposes the blog as fake online, Noah sees his beacon of hope for trans teens go down the drain. The only hope is to somehow convince everyone that the stories as real. Enter Drew, a cute boy who works at a bookstore. Drew is willing to fake date Noah in order to save his blog! As Noah navigates his dating in real life, he realises just how different it can be from his stories.

Lee’s writing is so easy to flow through and this is the kind of story you won’t want to put down. The diverse cast of characters is incredibly genuine and really well developed. Not only Noah, but also the side characters, create such a sense of being back in a teenager’s brains with all their worries and anxieties.

This book is entertaining and cute and educational and just overall an incredible YA read that is sure to drown your heart in loveliness.

maybe i wouldve loved this if i had read it years ago but its not my thing anymore. kind of sad because a friend lent it to me but i was... bored reading it.

This book is a great window and mirror for trans youth as well as youth who are trying to figure out their sexuality, their identity, and what it means to be who you were meant to be.

Dit was zo helemaal niks

T is een fake dating verhaal, waar ik meestal nogal dol op ben. Maar de hoofd kijkt naar elke persoon die voorbij loopt alsof diegene diens ultra monogame romantische happily ever after word.

Zo van “ they look hot, maybe we’ll date, they fall for me and maybe we’ll get married and he’ll never let me go “

Like nee gast, dat diegene lief lachte achter de kassa betekent niet gelijk trouwen

This kid needs to touch grass. He’s insufferable.
