It's honest to god killing me to read this! I haven't been this keyed up since breaking dawn. But even then, it doesn't even compare!! I want to read it now!

Great finale!
I really really enjoyed the mystery aspects of this installment in the series.
I thought it was fantastic that Richelle Mead acknowledged the fact that Rose essentially cheating on Adrian with Dimitri was wrong and that they should have handled the situation better.
I absolutely adored this series and definitely recommend people check it out. I can wait to get to Bloodlines now :D

So obviously I have not been able to read this as fast as I would have liked. I'm saying I read it from January 12 through the 17. I was just as annoyed by Rose not doing something as she was. I liked the ending, but I thought it could have been better. I wish that Adrian would have forgiven Rose. He grew on me... It's obvious that Rose and Dimitri street meant to be together. Also, Christian and Lissa are adorable. I'm happy that Lissa gets to be queen. It's cool that she had a sibling. I didn't think that it was going to be Jill, though. I'm also surprised that the murderer was Tasha. I kind of liked her and wanted Daniella to be the murderer. I feel like she was the one who did it. Sydney all of a sudden had a main role in this book. It was a little awesome took see her in action. I can't believe that Rose killed Victor! I thought she was going to have a mental breakdown... I loved that Sonya was transformed. I really like her. I hope her and Mikhal live happily ever after. She seems so sweet. I can't believe that Rose almost died again. I thought that Richelle was going to pull a Veronica Roth on me. I was going to have to throw something if she did. I'm a little upset that Lissa and Rose area bonded anymore. I don't really understand the conversation they had when Rose woke up.... I feel like that when they producers get to making this book into a movie, they are going to decide it's too action packed, and that it needs took be two movies... I think there should have been an epilogue. I wanted to see the "little Dragomirs" and maybe some "little Belikovs". (I loved those silly scenes with Adrian.) I think an epilogue would have been the best ever!
Sometimes the greatest tests of our strength are situations that don't seem so obviously dangerous. Sometimes surviving is the hardest thing of all.
It’s been a wild ride and latched itself carefully to my heart but in this sixth and final installment, Last Sacrifice, the much beloved Vampire Academy series has come to an end. Mead promises readers more romance, adventure and surprises are up her sleeves to fade this series out with a bang. And it comes as no surprise that she accomplishes this and more, all the while setting the stage for a spin-off novel.
We open with Rose Hathaway, our brilliant and badass narrator, hidden away in jail at court for a treasonous crime she has been accused of: murdering the queen.
All signs point all too clearly to her and so a great many have turned against her. She has been framed and the real killer is still out there; the evidence is strong against her, our girl is innocent, and it’s devastating seeing how quickly people were to believe the worst.
With her life on the line, and ready to clear her name, Rose’s future seems grim and almost hopeless. But with a surprising amount of help from Abe and her friends and boyfriend, she is able to bust out of jail and go into hiding with Dimitri and Sydney, while the others stay busy in court to prove her innocence.

Finally done my reread of Vampire Academy!
And... I don't know. I honestly thought I would like the last book more. Still a 4 star read because once again, even a bad book in my favourite series is still great.
It was really good but as I felt for books 4 and 5, the plot struggled to hold my attention. Once they were taken out of the Academy setting, my interest dwindled, I guess.
The slow-burn romance in this book was definitely keeping me going. This is just me being in my romance era more than my fantasy era right now, but I would have loved to just have that without the whole queen plot-line going on.
The plot twists were really good as well, though there were a few too many loose ends for my liking. Actually, I might have been fine with them if they hadn't been expressly pointed out to us in a convo at the end -- I'm guessing that was Richelle Mead's way of being like "guys, I didn't forget about the loose ends, they were intentional" but like... That doesn't just fix the issue?
I know the next series follows the Alchemists so I'll forgive not knowing what happens to Sydney but like... Where is (edit: I wrote Viktor here but meant someone else and now I can't remember who)? Does Adrian cut off all his other friends and how do they feel about that? Does Tasha get executed like Rose was supposed to? Do Lissa and Christian get married and have kids, saving her bloodline and/or does Lissa fix the family law, so her remaining queen doesn't rely entirely on Jill? Does Dimitri's family ever find out he was saved? What assignment does Eddie get -- was his life ruined because of this? And so much more...
I'm guessing a few of these are answered in the Bloodlines series but TBH, I have no interest in reading it at the moment because I don't think anyone else's POV will be as interesting as Rose's and also, I think I've realized the main draw of this world to me was the Academy so I don't want to pick up more books set away from it. And while I understand leaving some stuff open for the next series, I don't think I should have that many open-ended questions, especially ones that are directly related to the plot. Even a simple epilogue a few years in the future would have answered like half my questions.
The end of this book also felt like a bit of a cop-out since there's so much we miss from being in Rose's POV. Her getting shot was a GREAT twist except it meant we missed basically all the action and we barely even saw anything after it.
Also, as much as I really didn't ship them AT ALL and he annoyed me... Adrian Ivashkov deserved better.
So... idk. It was good but I expected better.
Ranking of the series:
1. Frostbite (All-time favourite)
2. Shadow Kiss (All-time favourite)
3. Spirit Bound (a little boring but the end was great)
4. Vampire Academy (first books are always a little boring but it has a nostalgic feel plus I loved that it was set at the Academy)
5. Last Sacrifice (didn't tie everything up the way I wanted but still a good enough end to the series)
6. Blood Promise (too long and too boring. Could have been sooo good but flopped from sequel syndrome, coming off the midpoint)
My reviews probably make it seem like I hate this series or something but I actually really do love it. I guess my high expectations for it just make it easy to be disappointed by the small things.

A good ending to a good series. I'll be picking up Bloodlines soon.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
holy shit. this book was so good. i loved everything, the plot, the characters, the resolutions and the things left open (i'm looking at you bloodlines) UGH. it was fantastic.
now that i've finished the series, i only have a few complaints. one: i feel like this series (if written now or even back then) would have been slightly stronger in multi POV/third person ONLY because it would have made the "visits" rose did with lissa flow with the story better, and we'd get other peoples thoughts. i'm a sucker for that. two: i kind of wanted a plot to flow through the whole series, ya know? like i kind of wanted them to go more into the fight against the strigoi throughout the six books.
on the other hand, one of my favorite things was the cast of characters. you never felt like you got too much of one or the other, or too little. everyone was evened out really well and i honestly really really liked that. that may be one of my favorite things about the series.
overall, i'm so glad i finally got this series off my TBR. it was worth it.
