I loved the writing and pacing of this book. The world-building was excellent and the characters were good. I wanted to smack the kids and shake the parents for letting their kids act like dickheads. The plot was excellent but the ending lacked a conclusion for me.

Some valid if obvious points made, the world building felt a bit inconsistent, specific some places but woefully vague in others of a similar category.

I was more interested in the commentary on our times and the speculativeness of the world and the hums, than the bare bones plot and main family. References to motherhood and children completely unrelatable to me. The kids themselves were extremely annoying from start to finish. Still have to say it’s a very worthwhile read, but don’t expect a lot of excitement.

What a beautiful exploration of motherhood and a terrifying look into the future as reliance on AI increases.

I don't think this was a perfect book about automation and AI, but I was hooked immediately; this is so close to what we're experiencing now. What really struck me was all the ads-- automation and technological advances will always mean more ways for things to be advertised, and for money to be made-- everything commodified, even nature. I don't disagree with the people who struggled to figure out exactly what May wanted/her relationship to her family, but I really just took it as an exhausted, financially struggling young family who has seen the world change radically from when they were younger and who are still struggling with it. I am really fascinated about AI and scared about what it will do to society, so maybe I just saw myself in May a bit. Anyway, thought this was great and will be thinking about it in the future.

Hit very close to home with the increasing use of AI. I appreciated the commentary on parenting in a technological world. The book balanced the benefits and costs of having access to all information.

This story was disturbingly accurate to real life, with the depth of advertisements. It was a little too realistic actually, I struggled to get into it as it felt like I was reading someone's day to day life about the mundane.

I didn't get the ending. Felt like the story kept jumping between two timelines, but since they were both very generic "going about your day experiencing a thing" with very long descriptions.

I don't know. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it.
