This was definitely one of the most dramatic NR Walker books I’ve read so far and the first book where I don’t really like one of the protagonists.
Some things in this book really crossed a line for me, but I am glad that there was therapy mentioned and taken seriously.

Holy smokes, if you thought book one was an emotional roller coaster, it almost seems like a walk in the park in comparison. Issac and Carter forge a strong bond from book one but it is by no means impervious to heartbreak, and when someone starts to play upon Issac's weakness, Carter does everything he can to stop Issac from making a disastrous mistake.

“I'll never be able to see you."
I took his other hand, holding both his in mine. "You do see me. No one has ever seen me like you do." I lifted his hands to my face. "You know me, you see me, like no one else."
"Not through these eyes."
"No," I agreed quietly. "You see me with your heart.”

You know what the problem is? I'm addicted to N.R. Walkers books. I can't get enough of them.

This book was even better than the first. It was harder, like more personal, especially for Isaac. I love Isaac, I do, but gosh that man can be a pain in the ass. But that is why I love him, because in the end, he does it because he is scared. He is so scared. Scared that Carter will leave him.
But his love for Carter is also why he wants to see again. He wants to see Carter. When people mention how good looking Carter is, he want to see that too. When Carter moans during sex, he wants to see Carters face. But he can't. And that almost breaks him.

And Carter. I couldn't get enough of him. He is so caring, but also sees past Isaac's blindness. Calls him on his stubborness. It was so hilarious to see him act jealous. When he paraded with a bare chest to show Joshua the hickies. Ha, I was laughing out loud.

My only complaint is that it was too short. I want more of them. Much, much more. <3

Although I liked the first book and was excited about this one, it sounds to me like there is some emotional cheating going on and I’m not down with that so I will not be reading this. If I had know when I read the first book that this was gonna happen, I never would’ve read it.

less about the sex and more about the relation between Carter and Isaac. But OMg what an obnoxious and stubborn a*hole is Isaac...

Another great NR Walker read - her writing syle just does it for me!
Perhaps not technically a great story but it worked for me. Isaac and Carter are 6 months on and still going strong - but sometimes its papered over cracks.
Isaac is still a bit of a pain, and now we are into book 2 I kind of think he should be a bit over some of his issues now - though on the other hand he has good reasons and if offered a chance at sight, I can see someone wanting to go for it.
I could also see how Carter could be smothering someone who wanted to be independent.
The fly in the ointment proved to be a suitable distraction though I thought he could have been more obnoxious and he did kind of trail away.
The story focussed really on furthering their relationship and whilst some will find it a bit light, I did get immersed in the story and thoroughly enjoyed it.

WARNING: R.I.P. (Rant-in-Progress)

Carter Reece adored Isaac Brannigan, an emotionally immature man who morphed into an insolent, arrogant, self-centered bastard whenever he felt insecure, disrepected, or not in control of a situation. Isaac triggered my intolerance of people who with surgical precision verbally decimate the people closest to them when there is a difference in opinion. I feel apologies are meaningless from repeat offenders who are fully aware of this pattern of behavior and know how devastating it is to the people they claim to love. I was ready to toss this book in the corner and DNF, but fortunately for me my emotions were being directed by the skillful writing of N.R. Walker, who also gave me many reasons to admire this flawed human being and cheer for this relationship. Great job!

I'm often a little apprehensive reading the second book in a series where I really loved the MC's in the first one. Not that I'm worried that I won't like the books (and particularly by this author, I know I'll be fine lol). No, I'm more concerned that the MC's won't connect with me the way they did previously. That they might be a little flat, or contrived.

Silly me! I really shouldn't have worried at all. Isaac and Carter were as great as ever. Isaac seemed to have mellowed a bit and Carter seemed to have found a bit more of his backbone. But all in a good way. There was growth in the guys, as much as there was in their relationship, as it should be.

Even when everything went south and Isaac reverted back to his old pattern, it still worked. I'm just very glad these two got their HEA.

I'm glad Mark is getting his story next though.

That was a great read! Often follow-ups aren't so good but this was (may I say it) even better than [b:Blind Faith|17450677|Blind Faith (Blind Faith, #1)|N.R. Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362048638s/17450677.jpg|23634287]. Enjoyed seeing Isaac and Carter again.
In this book Isaac finally gives in and Carter moves in but a snake also manages to slide in between the two, creating friction and arguments. Must read Bk3 to see Mark's story.
