This was a wish list book for me, so I was glad when I found it on sale for my Kindle. I really enjoyed reading this love story, but I had to deduct a few stars for a number of reasons. One, I'm not a fan of graphic sex scenes in books, and it seemed like this was the main activity between the two main characters towards the second half of the book. I honestly skipped those pages. I was also annoyed by the fact that Davina had a panic attack at the cabin right when Deke was about to pledge his love for her. The basketball proposal scene was predictable and kind of cliche, to be honest. The Giselle/Davina conflict felt forced and out of place. Davina's ability to so easily forgive her mother seemed rushed. And maybe it's just me, but I feel like Deke and Davina's love story was based on lust, and not love, because how can you truly fall in love with someone new so quickly after your husband's death? However, I do appreciate the themes of grief, loss, and forgiveness. I also saw myself in Davina, when she expressed a fear of being abandoned by loved ones. I wanted to read more about Davina's relationship with father too, but I felt like that topic wasn't addressed as much as Deke's relationship with his father.

This is my first Shanora romance & I was hooked from the start. So many topics are intertwined into this love story - grief, finding & accepting new love, forgiveness and moving forward with life.  And I made a new book boyfriend - Deke! 🄵 He falls first & is so patient with Davina. Being a pro basketball player didn't stop him from making time for her. Their relationship seemed so genuine & honest. That's what I love to read about! 🩷

This book was a little sad (and has bits a drama)...but I was rooting for Davina to give Deke a full chance! Plus the spice was spicing šŸ™ƒ.

There are a few triggers (death, abuse, alcoholism anxiety/panic attacks, etc) so read up on those before diving in.

BRAVO SHANORA!!!!!! This book is wonderfully written. The characters are well-developed, relatable, and memorable.

Sometimes the effects of life can not only linger but spill over into other areas. Shanora addresses this so well. The plot is realistic and relatable in some areas but also fantastical in others. I would definitely read this again because I enjoyed it tha much.

This book didn’t leave a lasting impression on me. I know there’s grief but the FMC really annoyed me. Maybe I’m being too harsh because grief isn’t something anyone can understand but I think this story really frustrated me. It felt like the MMC did all the work and then when it was his turn to heal and go through his experience, it took just one chapter. Then before we know it, they’re getting married. But at least we saw the FMC grow.

Beautiful Broken Love by Shanora Williams is heartbreakingly beautiful!  This story touched on so many complex emotions - grief, love, loss, trauma, sadness, forgiveness and healing. I knew this author wrote amazing thrillers but this romance novel was a beautiful surprise.  I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Williams romance catalog!

This book….what a story. Davina and Deke are characters who will stick with me for awhile. The way Shanora details the nuances of emotions is superb: the rollercoaster that grief is and just how HARD it is as Davina walks through her journey….then how complicated guilt and forgiveness is as Deke takes us through his journey. This story brought tears to my eyes, made my heart ache & also made me smile. Thank you for a beautiful story Shanora Williams!
