Very speculative and upsetting but successful in its convention of those themes. I appreciated all the anecdotes from the biologists past and how they helped construct her character. The descriptions of place were super vivid and I was uneasy the whole time haha. A good one!

Skipped a Super Bowl party to finish reading this novel, incredible. I loved how deeply human this book was while maintaining the, often *seen* as sterile, scientific scope on the narrative. The isolation of each woman’s individual characteristics and zeroing in on their singular purpose, position, and viewpoint while on the mission was intriguing, as well as our protagonists discovery/unfolding of this kaleidoscopic terrain. I hope they don’t screw up this dystopian drama like they did the giver.

I think the term "mindblowing" was invented for books like this.
My rating reflects my personal enjoyment, and the fact that I saw the movie before I knew of the book, took away from the pleasure of unraveling the narative by myself.
I love thought experiments, I adore nature beyond words, I don't mind not having all the answers, or being immersed in an eerie, confusing narrative.
So if you feel the same, this book is for you.
But if you look for a fast paced narrative where everything is tied in a clear bow of understanding and you hate feeling completely lost, then "Annihilation" is not for you.
