I love Stephen Colbert, but he's no Jon Stewart!

Aside from that, I feel like his sarcastic humor did not translate well into a book.

Not terrible, but not great. As has been said before, much like a long long episode of the Report, but without the dynamism that an actual Colbert brings to the table. Likewise no guests. I found that the sidebars were occasionally amusing, but didn’t have the same impact that the Word does, as one has to actually interrupt the reading of the main text to get the full effect of the sidebars, whereas the word just seeps into your head as Colbert talks. Still, there are a number of funny bits, and I did chuckle aloud in places. If you like the show, it’s probably worthwhile at least borrowing the book from someone.

Fans of the show will be fans of the book. When I first started reading this, I was laughing out loud. While that didn't last the whole time, I was constantly entertained. Colbert is so good at playing the arch-conservative. O'Reilly and Coulter would be proud.

Well, even though I went against the natural order of things, and I am not a Hero (because I didn't buy the book), I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Colbert's ideas on everything from getting into an Ivy League school to What's Turning Me Gay to how to Dominate Animals.

Freaking hilarious.

Added bonus: It has his speak from the White House dinner where he seriously pissed off Dubya. Glorious.

I think I like America: The Book (John Stewart) a little more..but this was a hilarious.

Stephen Colbert is probably my favorite comedian. Going into this book, I expected the same kind of humorous satire that I had found in The Colbert Report. I was not disappointed. Far from it, actually. I would find myself laughing out loud at several points throughout. His insight is hilarious and should not be taken seriously at all. People have to remember that this is satire, not sincerity. If you are a fan of his show, or a fan of satire at all, I highly recommend picking this up.

Another book that is what it is. I just know that there are probably intense Republicans out there who maybe read this accidentally and that thought amuses me.

Funny, with a running commentary alongside that recalls "The Word" segment on the show. It's not as inventive or laugh out loud funny as the Daily Show's "America: The Book," but it does provide more than a few chuckles.

And it reprints the speech that Colbert gave to the Washington Press Corps, with President Bush in attendance, that called them out for all their cowardice, greed, arrogance, etc. I'm still in awe of the man for having the balls to lay out such a brutal piece of parody, right in the faces of its targets.
