Very few books have made me feel this level of connection and love for the characters. This is exactly what I am looking for in a romance book.
Drew’s character was so complex, not entirely relatable because her upbringing and current lifestyle is so unique but I felt really connected to her. Like I wanted to be her best friend and give her all of the love she deserved.
Josh, while also complex, felt like he was put on Earth to be the calm to Drews chaos. He was steady. And despite his initial reservations of Drew, he’s quick to include her as someone he is fiercely protective of.
I wanted to be Beth using all my might to push the two of them together. Their love story unfolds slowly and perfectly and heart was beating so heavily for the entire second half of their story.
Long story short, these are the characters that (at least for me) make me believe in the power of love.

I loved the first book in this series and this one was even better. Drew and Josh are both funny, complicated and characters you can’t help but want to know more of. Even while being so different, they work so well.

I love love this. I can't stop smiling when reading this book.
I love the characters. Even the supporting characters were elaborated. The story was engaging and I never got bored. The slow burn didn't feel excruciatingly slow, it was perfect. Their sex scenes were written well and intimate because they actually talked and interacted with each other throughout, instead of just some mindless sex that felt really good. Also! The audiobook narrators were awesome. Usually, male narrators spoke like they're air control but this narrator was very clear and his voice was pleasing too.
Drew, a famous singer, was invited by her ex-boyfriend, Six (a musician too but less famous than her) to go to Hawaii with his family. Once Drew got there, she found out that Six was arrested in Japan for carrying weed. Six had a brother, Josh and his ex-girlfriend Sloane was also invited there. Since the trip was for Beth, the brothers' mom, the kids sucked it up and tried to be there for her, except Six of course.
Drew had overheard Josh talking to Beth indicating that he didn't like her, so Drew and Josh weren't on the best terms. Everything started to change when Josh found Drew running at 5 am and he insisted that she shouldn't for safety reasons. Since then, they ran together every morning before they moved locations. It took a while for Six to get there but it was clear that something was already brewing between Drew and Josh. It was around this time that Sloane left because she knew there was no hope in getting back together with Josh. I liked how they handled Sloane's character. She was bitter but she wasn't an outright bitch, she was believable.
It wasn't until a backpacking trip that overturned the direction of Drew's and Josh's relationship. Six had turned away because of an interview and unknowingly took Drew's inhaler with him. Josh was livid and Drew completely shut down the possibility of fixing things up with Six.
Once they were back from the trip, Drew cut Six off from her life. Drew and Josh saw each other again when he came to visit LA and his parents for lunch. They had sex but agreed to keep it a secret because Beth was still hoping that Drew will get back with Six.
Things in Drew's business side weren't doing great. Her manager, Davis, was too inhumane and controlling of her. She finally realized that she deserved more and contacted a lawyer to break off the contract.
Josh was in Somalia working as a doctor. Then came news that his base was attacked and Josh was taken as hostage. Drew immediately dropped everything and arranged a flight to Ethiopia to meet him. There they exposed their relationship.
Josh broke off his arrangement in Somalia to come back home and Drew's problem was also fixed.

i was all in my feels reading this book. i didn’t think i’d get so emotional while shedding a few tears, but here we are.
i was so here for drew and josh. josh was such a better match than his brother for drew. he valued her and genuinely cared about her, he saw past the façade and saw the real drew and couldn’t get enough. i loved drew and josh’s banter, the way they went at each other had me laughing. they had amazing chemistry and were so good together. they made each other better and were exactly what the other needed.
the devil and the deep blue see was an incredible enemies to lovers romance. it brought the laughs, smiles, and angst. i am living for this series and can’t get enough.
