i was all in my feels reading this book. i didn’t think i’d get so emotional while shedding a few tears, but here we are.
i was so here for drew and josh. josh was such a better match than his brother for drew. he valued her and genuinely cared about her, he saw past the façade and saw the real drew and couldn’t get enough. i loved drew and josh’s banter, the way they went at each other had me laughing. they had amazing chemistry and were so good together. they made each other better and were exactly what the other needed.
the devil and the deep blue see was an incredible enemies to lovers romance. it brought the laughs, smiles, and angst. i am living for this series and can’t get enough.

Parfois il y a des lectures qui vous surprennent, vous prennent complètement au dépourvu, et c'est exactement ce qui m'est arrivé avec ce roman !
Au vu de la couv et du résumé, et du souvenir que j'avais gardé du 1er tome, je m'attendais à une dynamique d'enemies-to-lovers, une rom-com légère et pétillante, bourrée de joutes verbales bien senties, le tout dans un décor paradisiaque, et pas grand chose d'autre, juste un bon moment de divertissement.
Alors ... il y a de ça, mais pas que.
The devil and and the deep blue sea est bien moins léger et joyeux que ce qu'on peut supposer au premier abord. L'autrice aborde des sujets difficiles, les personnages ne sont pas ce qu'ils semblent être (surtout Drew, l'héroïne) et je dois dire que ça a été pour moi un sacré voyage émotionnel. L'autrice a fait un boulot incroyable avec Drew, je trouve qu'en romance, c'est vraiment rare de voir un personnage évoluer d'une telle manière. Je suis vraiment épatée par son évolution, et même si j'avoue qu'à un moment j'ai eu envie de la secouer pour sa naïveté et son imprudence, je l'ai vraiment beaucoup aimée.
J'ai également aimé le personnage masculin mais il faut avouer qu'au début, il sembler avoir un sacré balai là où je pense, et qu'il faut un peu de temps pour gratter sous la surface et le découvrir réellement.
La romance pourrait paraître scabreuse, on peut imaginer un pseudo triangle amoureux entre une nana et deux frères, MAIS les choses sont claires dès le début et il n'y a jamais d'ambiguïté. On est sur du slow burn, et c'est très bien amené par l'autrice.
Voilà un roman émouvant, qui aborde des sujets sensibles et difficiles, qui m'aura fait vivre de fortes émotions !

I loved this one too! This series is just so good! I loved both of the characters and their slow burn. She seems to be a queen of the enemies-friends-lovers tropes and it just works. They had killer chemistry. I also loved watching Drew learn to stand up for Wesley and do what she wanted to do so.
I just wish that had been explored further. Her journey through that was such a big focus and then I feel like we never really got to see the resolution to it. I would have liked to see her stand up for herself to the press and talk about her past and what she really wanted to do with her career. As well as having seen a concert or show or something where she performed her own music finally. I also kinda wish that Josh had started calling her Lina since she told him that was her real name and she wished she could be that girl again especially with him.
But this book was super cute. I loved the characters and their relationship. It being set in a cross country trip throughout Hawaii was a fun and unique twist. EORs writing style is so easy and enjoyable to read. I also loved seeing ing the side characters in this one. And what Ben did for her in the bonus epilogue had me tearing up. Can’t wait for the next book. If you sent read this series you seriously need to!

This book was amazing, and definitely exceeded my expectations. There was a lot of depth to the story, especially in the second half of the book, and it was written so very well, it really got me hooked. I loved the banter, the dual POV, the tension, the backstories and the family dynamics. The characters were messy but oh so loveable. This might be a new favorite of mine!
