I enjoyed this one, more so than I thought I would. There were plot twists and characters I really enjoyed. I do wish we saw more world building. More explanation on how some of them came to the academy other than the basic I did bad things. I also feel like the ending was abrupt and just left me with more questions than actual answers. I’ve read her other book Crave and didn’t get into back then but reading this and hearing the cross over with some characters does make me want to give Crave another try now.

Sweet Nightmare by Tracy Wolff is an exhilarating dive into a world of dark fantasy and paranormal intrigue. As my first Tracy Wolff book, it certainly won’t be my last—this story was an absolute blast!
The blending of fear and attraction, survival and forbidden desire, creates a compelling and immersive read. Wolff’s ability to intertwine the supernatural with a strong emotional core makes Sweet Nightmare a standout. It’s a thrilling, spine-chilling ride with a touch of romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re a fan of dark fantasy with a hint of romance and a lot of suspense, this book is a must-read!

I won an eBook of Sweet Nightmare from the publisher. I wasn’t too sure what this book was about because I hadn’t read the synopsis.
I enjoyed the first parts of the book, I’m a sucker for a school setting and to have a “reform school for the paranormal” yes sold. I just feel like overall the plot wasn’t thought out well enough for me and there were a lot of random things added that did nothing for the story. The school wasn’t really explained well, I don’t really know that criteria for the students to end up there. We just know their powers are “shut off” when they are admitted. We are introduced to a bunch of characters/ monsters/ students but none of their powers or their actual creature selves are explained. And the author basically kills of half of the characters for no reason. Our main character is being punished and we have no idea why, besides it seems like her mother who also is the headmaster appears to hate her. We later learn maybe why but it also isn’t explained at all. And then there’s her friends the lovers to enemies to lovers ex boyfriend who they reunite in this story, but it’s briefly touched on but again not really. And then they all of a sudden become mated at the end, agin the mating bond not explained at all just thrown in there and then not talked about again. Clementine also can see ghosts but hasn’t told anyone at all, so again something else just thrown in with no explanation, and then we learn something at the end that maybe has to do with it but doesn't actually explain if it does or not. There was just so much introduced and never hashed out to the reader that it made this read kind of a mess.
I don’t personally think that I would read more from this author or recommend her work based off of this book. And I’m not going to grab book two and hope that everything gets explained.
