Abby Jimenez really knows how to write a romance. You get to read about characters heal from their trauma and find they happily ever afters. Their healing journey is real and beautiful. Briana and Jacob were a wonderful couple. It was nice to read about big loving families.
Only itty bitty issue I had was that it was a bit repetitive and thus made the book a little long.

This was my first Abby Jimenez and I get the hyped. I listened to this on audio and I recommend reading it that way. It has a male voice actor and a female voice actor. Just the tone they use sometimes is how I would have said it in my head if I was reading it physically. The only reason it is not a 5 is because of the ending. I felt that it may have needed to be longer to just flesh out what happened. I felt it was rushed a little in the end and I wish there was more build up to the epilogue.

Predictable. Boring and rambling. Almost too cute.
Also, this is just my personal pet-peeve but how about we don’t end every single love story in a pregnancy and a wedding? Not wanting kids is not automatically a trauma response.

If I could rate this higher than a 5 I would! Starting this book, I thought it would be a typical rom-com with a fake-dating trope, but it became a much deeper story. Both Jacob and Briana are complex characters with medical careers,  recent painful relationship histories, and complicated extended families. Mental health and organ donation are woven into the story in meaningful ways,  and I truly loved how people showed up for each other. There is real character growth.
I will definitely be seeking out other books by Abby Jimenez.
