Very unexpected turns but over all an excellent read with relatable characters and an imaginative story line. Love the connections made at the end between science and magic ;)

I liked the dual stories in both the fictional world and the real world where Bethany the half fictional character had to deal with a main character who'd come out of popular Harry Potteresque type series. I loved how the author definitely knows how to keep your attention no matter what your age and has engaging characters. Very interesting thought of what you would do if you could jump in your favorite book anytime. Would you be like Bethany before and stay in the background not disrupting the story or jump right in like Owen and want to become part of the story and meet your favorite characters. Also Charm is absolutely priceless. Loved her.

"After you, " Charm said, gesturing for him to go first. "It's your spell, If you die in front of me, I promise to shoot whatever killed you really hard.

She definitely was a fun character i a fun action packed book.

Owen is a big reader, his mom is a librarian so he always has a book on him. Bethany’s mom has forbidden her from books, since the disappearance of her father, it’s the only way her mom can keep her safe. Bethany has the power to go in and out of books, and when Owen sees her literally disappear he knows that this means he can visit his favorite books! Bethany doesn’t want Owen to know, or go with her into any books, but he has a point. There is a finding spell in one of Owen’s favorite series, and if she wants to find her dad she should use the spell. Owen has other plans aside from helping Bethany, and he of course gets his wish when everything gets messed up. With tons of references to popular kids’ books, this book gets really meta really fast. There were times where I had to put it down to just take a breather from it all. Going in and out of books, and meeting the author of those books, and references to the actual author of the book we are really reading, and and and...... it got out of hand in parts. Still fun and different this is a book that readers will love, since it’s all about books that people love and of course as all readers know, the issues that come with getting what you want. For fourth grade on up this is a book for book lovers!

This was a reread for me. I had listened to the audiobook a while ago (and loved it). Then I found the physical copy at the library and thought, "Why not?" I had forgotten how funny and clever it is!

I love how both the villains and the heroes are actually smart.

I loved how the characters were really relatable. Who doesn't want to go on an adventure, like Owen, and who doesn't get lots of stress, like Bethany?

This story is really funny, but not in the stupid way, which I really appreciated.

Full five stars and would totally recommend. Especially recommended for fans of "Fablehaven," by Brandon Mull, "The Wingfeather Saga," by Andrew Peterson, "The Circus at the End of the Sea," by Lori R. Snyder, "The Land of Stories," by Chris Colfer, “Half Upon a Time,” by James Riley, and “Keeper of the Lost Cities,” by Shannon Messenger.

5 Things I Learned From This Book:

1. Entering a book and experiencing the character's world for yourself isn't as romantic and glamorous as one might first expect.

2. Robots can be cute.

3. Don't marry a fictional guy...there's too many things that can go wrong.

4. Fractions stink.

5. Look before you leap. You may end up in a Stephen King novel.
