It's not a bad book I just found it kind of boring, especially towards the end.
Half the story was being told in the presented and half was one year before and unfortunately I'm really not a fan of flashback chapters in general.
I have to say one thing that started to annoy me after a point was the continuous repetition of their names. I don't if it was all in my head but it felt like Jack's name appeared 5 times in each line.

I'm sorry, how are people reviewing this book in a calm and sane manner? THIS BOOK IS WHAT HIGH SCHOOL ME DREAMED OF.

Imagine if BBC Sherlock were actually, canonically gay. Larger-than-life genius killers like Moriarty and bad-ass heroes like John Watson, except super gay. I'm not saying this is fanfiction, because it's definitely not, but it feels so reminiscent of everything I've ever wanted my favorite TV shows and movies to be.

I don't normally consider it a compliment to call books "cinematic," but this book made me feel like I was inside an action movie. It's well-written, well-plotted, intelligent, and just ahhhhh so many feeeeeels.

Back and forth timelines.
Pretty dull, despite action.
Sex, guns, and spy games.

the good thing about reading this book is that I actually enjoyed it very much (although I do have opinions about the split timeline)

the bad thing is that now I have to admit that chara was right which means I'll also have to start reading saiyuki sooner or later orz

WOW!
Hands down the best M/M suspense audiobook I've heard in a long time.

This is the quality of writing we need more of in M/M. I'm so tired of the unoriginal, formulaic bullshit some authors keep churning out.

WDMTD was well-researched, sharply constructed and there was not a spare word in it. Both MC's were fascinating, but I was particularly taken with Ethan Blade. The audiobook narrator hit my ladyboner every time he spoke with Blade's clipped accent.

I am desperate for book 2 to come out in audio.

This book surprised me in a very good way. From the first chapter, it was gritty, and packed with suspense and action. The dual timeline made sure I had no idea what was going to happen next, gradually revealing the pieces of the puzzle and keeping me on the edge of my seat. So, A+ for the plot.
Next, the characters. I liked Jack, but I think most readers will agree with me when I say that Ethan is the one who makes this book truly stand out. An assassin with hidden depths is always nice, but Ethan Blade is just something else. I was practically squealing with joy every time he appeared. That man is just so damn cute. Y'know, for an international assassin. And he has a freaking CAMEL, guys. Enough said.
The chemistry between the two MCs was off the charts, there was just the right amount of scorching-hot sex scenes... Damn, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a book so much. I'm off to read the rest of the series!

The book wasn't really for me because when I go for contemporary novels, they are very funny and/or very sweet/cute. But I really enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers and I could see and understand the appeals of the book.
