This series is making my teenage YA heart so happy! Also, things were getting very omegaverse between Scar and Wolf??? Anywaysss, taking a break from this series for now bc like 3 Libby holds decided to become available at the same time :)))

This book was allllrigghhtt i guess. Its very stereotypical Grumpy Sunshine trope, so if you’re in the mood for something cliche, this is a good go to. I was pleasantly surprised by the FMC. Usually, when the third act breakup happens, the forgiving is quick, but she held her ground!! I was so proud. All in all, it was okay, but im glad i didn’t spend more than a day on it.

Miss Preston’s books are so perfect for a stormy day like today, where i could (and did literally today) just curl up and read a book in one sitting. They are easy to read and addictive! I’m slowly but surely making my way through her published list

Such a good read for when you just want clear writing that just spells everything out for you. I read this at the perfect time bc i couldnt be bothered to read a thought provoking book or something with insane world building, and it kept me entertained too. Will def be reading the rest of this seriesss

You guys. You GUYS. This book was SO GOOD. I am going to try to review whiles till processing so bear (bare?) with me.

I hadn’t heard ANYTHING—and i mean, not a PEEP—about this book prior to reading it. I was used book hunting in Gainesville with a friend, when the BOTM edition they had caught my eye, and I thought the premise was intriguing.

First off, i think the marketing was not done properly. This book was marketed as ‘hilarious’, and sure, the concept of there being a 9-to-5 deal department in hell is ironic, but thats where the supposed hilarity ends.

Next, the book changes mood like 2/3ds of the way in, changing from a upbeat, hellish (literally) adventure, to almost a thriller type of book. These two things I think contribute greatly tot he negative reviews.

Even though I loved this book, I totally get why these things would turn people off and leave a bad taste. With alllll of that being said: WOW. I LOVEEEED this book and thats saying alot because I dont typically read (or care for) general fiction.

This book has so many layers, most of which I did not anticipate. The overall concept was cool, but also the way the department works, the main characters’ own intrinsic motivations, the twists (and there are a few) the ENDING??! Just WOW. Not to mention that I didn’t expect the little tidbits of wisdom that were dropped quite abruptly, but befittingly throughout.

Okay, sorry that was long, and I might change my opinion in the future (still processing) but for now, this book blew my mind, especially because I went in blind. Definitely will be recommending!!

AHHHHH i loved this book lol. I binged all of it yesterday and it was exactly what i needed after a long week. The characters, plot and setting were awesome, and gave me Six of Crows vibes, but with not as much in depth writing, BUT it was still enjoyable. There was also alot going in the plot which made it fast paced, but they were all justifiable. My ONLY qualm is that some scenarios—like the high stakes card game at the end—wasn’t properly explained, but it ended up working itself out afterwards. I cant wait to read the rest of this series!!!

I honestly dk why I wasnt able to get through it. Im curious as to the Queen of Hearts backstory, and I love Cath & Jest, but for some reason it feels like dragging my feet to read it. THe writing isnt my favorite but isnt terrible. I even tried with audio, which made it worse (im not an audio reader)! I just cant put myself through another ~50% of this book
