The Weiner Across the Way by Amy Award (330 pages)
Book 2 of The Cocky Kingmans series

✨Overall Thoughts and Ratings✨
⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I remember signing up for the ARC for this one because book 1 was one of my favorites last year.  Amy writes such fluffy and fun characters and stories.  I love it! I love saying that I'm a mafia romance girlie but when I find these cute palate cleansers, I can't help myself. I'm fully obsessed with Amy Award's Kingmans brothers. Declan is so hot🥵 Your next book boyfriend is here!!! The boy obsessed trope HITS in this one and I was having a blast 🤩 Kelsey is such a boss babe. Her growth throughout the book is so beautiful. Love her🧡

🌶️🌶️🌶️:
Talking about hot, the chemistry between Declan and Kelsey is everything! Their instant connection was just so cute. I consider this book spicy 🔥

Fully recommend this book. Can't wait for the next one! Release date is February 7th!

Stolen Touches by Neva Altaj (288 pages)
Book 5 of the Perfectly Imperfect series

⭐⭐⭐⭐:
Here's my thing with mafia romances or just books with overall dark themes. The MMC claims to be this no nonsense, ruthless and lawless type of guy but then he feels guilty for being a "monster" like sir...we are not here for that. If I pick up a book and descriptions or teasers tell me he's morally grey or morally pitch black, I say go all out 🤷🏾‍♀️ I'm so serious about that, you don't understand. If I'm told that there's a specific something in a book, dear authors please go ahead! And Neva Altaj?!?! She does exactly that in Stolen Touches. She delivers!! Mr. Ajello is not with the games. The man cares about his wife and his business. His wife a lot more of course 😋 but seriously, very much unhinged MMC. And I ate it up alright! Over-the-top/possessive/protective, my OTTP babes, this one's for you 🖤
Milene is cool. I have a list of these mafia related FMCs that I love and adore and will bring them up in every conversation. And Milene could make it to the list. This is Neva Altaj, I can only rant so yeah...get into it!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
So we got some semi-silent stalking going on, lots of OTTP, lots of spice and steam, valuable mafia dealings and overall good conversation. Loved it all❤️

‼️TWs include: gore, abuse, and graphic descriptions of violence and torture.

✨Overall Thoughts and Ratings✨

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
This book is perfection! Why? Because by the end of it, I felt complete. The sky was blue, birds were chirping. I felt alive by the end of this book. Alright... enough fangirling, here's the review!
This book is very much for the fluff lovers. A very much appreciated palate cleanser for me especially. A good contemporary romance with guaranteed HEA. The characters within the story itself are all just so vivid. Like it's all so cute and wholesome. Their were some emotional moments and I loved those. Owen and Waverley are just so perfect together. I'm definitely going back to read book 1. I definitely recommend this book 🩷

🌶️🌶️🌶️:
This book is spicy with a little steam! Their chemistry and overall cozy, wholesome, tooth-rottingly sweet dynamic was everything!

❤️‍🩹:
Before our happy ending, the author made sure to give us a little heartache 😉

Special thanks to the author for the ARC opportunity 🩷

‼️CWs include:
recounting of SA, implications of child neglect and child endangerment, mentions of death in male main character’s family.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.50
Dante and Tempest are a special match. She hates him from day 1 and he doesn't care. Honestly in Tempest's mind, it's her world and he's just living in it. Dante doesn't mind that much because he's really capable as well so he figures out ways to his "little hurricane" as he calls her. Their chemistry, the stuff that they go through together and just them as a couple chef's kiss! Now...the repetitive exaggerations had me rolling my eyes. If you know what I'm referring to, oh you know! And our great plot by the way, gets cast aside for a good minute for some sexy scenes. Now was I mad? Absolutely not. But we had a story! I wanted the story just a bit more. Frequent but not bad!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
Speaking of smut, good smut. Great details! That club scene? Yes please! The dirty talk >>> The MMC owns a sex club after all, if that tells us anything😋

Late with this review but it's within the release week😅 I fully recommend Toxic Love! Special thanks for this ARC opportunity ❤️

The Truths We Burn by Monty Jay (473 pages)
Book 2 of The Hollow Boys series

⭐⭐⭐⭐.50:

I loved this book, but let's get into the review!

This not being a 5 for me is only due to the long narrations. They're not 3rd pov but for some reason I just could not get through it. I read them during the first few chapters then I was like "I can't. I will DNF this book if I continue like this" So I skimmed through the narration, pausing and scrolling through. It's a wonderful read. Well-written characters, no filler scenes or characters, great plot, perfect pace, overall great book!

Now onto the characters, let me tell you now: IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ANYTHING BY MONTY JAY YET, PLEASE DO SO, ASAP!!! Because the characters?!? Oh the smut?!? The angst?!? The chemistry and tension?!? Give MJ all the awards!!!! You get such developed characters. They're so real and raw, I love that!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
Spicy with some steam!!! There's a little bit of banter, LOTS of dirty talk, oh and Rook!! I'd let him [REDACTED] anyways...

❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹:
This gets a level 4 from me regarding the angst. It got angsty okay!!! That scene with Silas... I don't know what I'll do when I get to his book❤️‍🩹

‼️TWs and CWs include:
graphic violence and torture, murder, psychological torment, gore, childhood emotional abuse, explicit sexual content, sexual assault, issues of religion. Please know your triggers💜

✨Overall Thoughts and Ratings✨
⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I usually read series in order interconnected or not but I received this ARC so I was like why not. So my review will reflect me not knowing these characters that much because as it's book 4. There's an obvious character and plot set up that I missed. But I was able to understand the plot regardless.

So let's start with the pace. I liked it. It did not drag much.
Onto the plot itself, great plot. I'll definitely go back and read book 1 so I have a fuller understanding of the world building.
Now the characters, that was the only part I had issues with. I did not feel their chemistry/tension. They're hot, because they unalive together and "a couple that unalives together, stays together". I don't make the rules 🤷🏾‍♀️ Aside from that, I just did not feel the characters the way I usually do. We get a beautiful love story yes, but something was missing for me.
As for the tropes, this is a dark romance. There are talks of the mafia but we don't get hardcore mafia dealings. It's also a stalker romance🖤

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
It gets kinky. It's very smutty/spicy (I really have to do a post where I tell y'all what I consider spicy/smutty/steamy). Loved it!

Overall, maybe with a more concrete background of all the characters I'd feel more connected and then it might have been all 5 stars for me. Regardless, it's a great read! I wanna read Shattered Secrets soon! I fully recommend!

‼️TWs and CWs include:
Suicidal thoughts, self harm, sexual abuse & rape, violence against children, graphic violence, consensual non consent (CNC). Please be aware of your triggers!

Worth the Hurt by Ashley Dranguet (358 pages)

Parts I Liked:
The MCs' challenges felt so raw. Their experiences are meaningful.
It got really angsty, and I love angst.
Well-written characters. MCs and side characters.

Parts That Were Not For Me:
Things were a bit one-sided in my perspective, for more than half of the book.
The main conflict was dragged a bit too much for me.
The smut did not land with me because of the disconnect.

✨Overall Thoughts and Ratings✨
⭐⭐⭐.50
My main issue was how much the conflict was dragged. It was not miscommunication, it was withholding. It felt like stuff was withheld to prolong the book. The set up was that they'd focus on their growth and their relationship, but that did not happen because so much was kept secret, and that's what threw me off. There was a lot of avoiding the issue at hand when both characters were capable of sharing their concerns. Don't give up though! We get some great closure.

🌶️🌶️🌶️:
It was spicy. Paxton is so sexy and cute at the same time! But it was done a bit too much for me. I guess I wanted them to talk first then get to doing the devil's tango as much as they did. Again, personal opinions!

This was a great read. Emotional with a little bit of humor! Release date is November 30th! Thank you to the author and @theauthor.agency for this ARC 🧡

Parts I Liked:
The characters are dark. Now, is the level of their darkness on the same wavelength or do they differ in some ways? You should read it and find out because that's something that's highlighted throughout. Our FMC, Journey, she knows what she wants, a no nonsense type of character. As dark as this is, the MCs do have some sense of morality but that doesn't cancel out how unhinged they both are. Evan is literally so caring, but very much dark as well! The author writes absolutely flawless climax (the plot, ya nasty🤨) and it was emotional too!!! That alone was everything to me. Oh there's an amazing twist y'all!!!!! (You have to read it!)

Parts That Were Not For Me:
The single pov.

🖤✨Overall Thoughts and Ratings✨🖤

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I literally didn't expect any cute moments at all. But a genius author is very much capable of delivering a little bit of something even if it wasn't expected!

This book contains psychotic MCs. These two couldn't have been any more perfect for each other and I love that for them. A couple that k!lls together stays together, isn't that the saying? There's so much emotion, connection, great storytelling and so many dimensions to the MCs. It's all so well-written. W.S. Greer literally always delivers!

I remember signing up for this ARC and thinking how dark will it get? And my oh my, it got so dark 🖤

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
Very much kinky with strong BDSM scenes, plenty of dirty talk and all the smut 😉

‼️TWs‼️ include:
Depictions of gun play, bondage, impact play, breath play (choking/strangulation), stalking, murder, gruesome thoughts, and overall mature content.

9/10 Pacing
It's a slow burn but it doesn't drag. There are interruptions however. I feel like they got just a little bit too much. The MMC is a single dad (twin girls) and it's like a really close family type of home (small-town) so the interruptions made sense.

10/10 Story Arc
Great story overall! Pretty easy read, small town, almost Hallmark vibes (if you know about Hallmark movies, you know what I mean).

9/10 Characters
Lovable and fully written characters. No filler conversations nor characters. Everyone brings something to the plot. Our FMC is an ex dancer and now baker and has a vegetable garden. MMC is rich but the book doesn't focus on his wealth that much.

10/10 Inclusion of the teased tropes
The brother's bestfriend trope goes off in this! It adds a little bit of angst and I love angst. There's a constant back and forth about their intentions and how to go about it. It's a bit one sided, so guess who is more torn about it than the other?

⭐⭐⭐⭐:
This book has the best slowburn I've read all year. It's so well-done. The interruptions drove me insane and I loved it! There's also this turmoil from the MMC because of the brother's best friend element. The way the author makes you wait for it, I was like FINALLY!!!! Their chemistry, and the found family trope is elaborately written in my opinion. It's not a huge group of people but those who are present matter so much. They all care for each other and it's the sweetest.
It's a fairly light read so if you've been reading heavy stuff and want a break , definitely read Fell For You! It gets emotional but overall, it's a fluffy romance.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
The author gets really creative with the smut and I loved it. Specifically the restaurant scene, I was grinning the entire time. I've never read something like that before. There's always the really predictable way of writing a steamy scene in a restaurant or while eating, which we might be familiar with. However, Renee Charles goes many steps further with that in this book and I had to mention it in my review!

‼️CWs include‼️
Body dysmorphia (past), Emotional abuse (past), Medical issues/cancer (not main characters), and Child neglect (not main characters).

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review!

We get a bit of a slowburn and then friends with benefits. It was well-written and it worked. But somehow, I felt like a little drop of something was missing.

8/10 Story Arc
It was a great story overall. A bit melo, with sports elements (healing hockey player with figure skater girl). The redeeming arc for one of the characters threw me off. It was a bit vague in my opinion, and felt unnecessary.

10/10 Characters
Great characters. None of them were written as background characters to fill space as there were no filler scenes really. Each character serves their purpose and I enjoyed reading their dialogues.

10/10 Inclusion of the teased tropes
Great inclusion of all the teased tropes. Nothing was left out or poorly executed. I loved the writing!

⭐⭐⭐⭐:
Melo romance with great banter. I instantly fell in love with Rhys. And the man is obsessed! He just wants her and Sadie just couldn't see it. It's HEA don't worry!

🌶️🌶️🌶️:
The first kiss was explosive, like the way it happened slowly then got all passionate? Peyton Corrine did the thing with that scene alone! Oh also and she praises him?

Release date is this Friday, 11/03! If you need a chill, but heartwarming read, I definitely recommend. Thank you to Peyton for this ARC🤍
