An amazing start to what's bound to be an amazing series.

Layla just wants to be normal. But, that's kind of hard to do when she's half-gargoyle-half-demon. (Yeah, it's a weird mix but it works). It also doesn't help that if she kisses someone, she'll suck out their soul, which is so not attractive. Because Layla is mixed she is not fully accepted with either of her kinds. However, Layla decides to embrace her Warden (gargoyle) side and shun her demon side. Her simple demon tagging task gets turned upside down when she runs into Roth. Roth is an upper-class demon that Layla should definetly steer clear of but there's more to Roth than meets the eye. There's also the upside that she can kiss him without worrying about his soul since he doesn't have one. But staying away is easier said than done.

Layla never feels that she fits in with her family, considering that they're afraid to get close to her.. If that isn't bad enough Zayne, her totally drool-worthy crush, only sees her as a sister. Which sucks. Majorly. When Layla becomes closer with Roth we see her start to accept who she really is. I feel like, as a reader, a lot of people can relate to Layla. She's different and insecure about who she is which makes her more relatable. Roth is also our main hero of the book and I just want to say I'm team Roth all the way! I absolutely loved him.

"You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added, "Your face."
"My face?"
"It's in need of my kisses."

In the beginning, I didn't know if Layla should trust Roth, but she made the right choice by sticking with him. Even though he is a demon, he's more human than anyone in the book. He shows Layla to embrace who she is and loves her the way she is. It's absolutely beautiful. He did have his own issues that makes you second guess his actions but he makes the ultimate sacrifice for Layla in the end which Broke. My. Heart.

"I lost myself the moment I found you."

Together these two were breath-takingly perfect. They brought out the best in each other. Other characters were Zayne, which I believe is holding back feelings for Layla, and returning characters from Bitter Sweet Love including Danika, Dez, and Jasmine.

All in all this book was perfect, but then again anything written by JLA is usually incredible. The only thing that you shoud be aware of is that ending which seriously kills you.

And I do believe I will die before Stone Cold Touch comes out because that cliffhanger was unreal! JLA writes the best cliffhangers that keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you waiting for another year until the next one comes out.

This will be me until November comes.

5/5 stars.

THIS BOOK!!! <3 <3 <3

This was such an amazing ending to an amazing series. I cannot tell you how many times I swooned throughout this book. It was just incredible.

“She deserves to be kissed by someone who loves her. Someone who spends every waking moment trying to do everything right by her. Someone who would rather die than see her hurt. She doesn't deserve to be kissed by anyone other than me.”

I hope one day I can find my Will Cooper. *Swoony sigh*

But back to the actual book. This Girl takes place in Will's POV (YES!) again. Will and Layken are on their honeymoon when Layken asks Will to tell her how he fell for her.

“I lie back on my pillow and think back to that day. The day that I fell for my wife.”

So, we get to see everything that happened in Slammed from Will's eyes. But, it's not just what we saw in Slammed because we get several extra pieces that we didn't get in Slammed. All of these flashbacks are tastefully written as we flip to and from the present and past. Layken and Will are the only characters for a good 80% of the book but it works. The book also ends with us seeing a bit of their future and trust me, it's so cute and has a perfect ending. There are also a couple new poems but the last poem that Will writes is just perfection. You just have to read to know what I mean. But all in all this book has everything that summarizes the whole series.

“COMPLETELY.
Utterly.
Frozen.
My eyes drop to the table in front of me when she finishes. Her words are sinking in.
A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
In love with?
That's what she said.
In love with. As in present tense.
She loves me. Layken Cohen loves me.”

Awwwww, I love Will and Layken. It's saddening to see this book end but all good things must come to an end right? I'll continue to look for Colleen Hoover's next book, but until then, everyone needs to read this incredible book.

Spoiler"We’re born into the world
As just one small piece to the puzzle
That makes up an entire life.
It’s up to us throughout our years,
to find all of our pieces that fit.
The pieces that connect who we are
To who we were
To who we’ll one day be.
Sometimes pieces will almost fit.
They’ll feel right.
We’ll carry them around for a while,
Hoping they’ll change shape.
Hoping they’ll conform to our puzzle.
But they won’t.
We’ll eventually have to let them go.
To find the puzzle that is their home.
Sometimes pieces won’t fit at all.
No matter how much we want them to.
We’ll shove them.
We’ll bend them.
We’ll break them.
But what isn’t meant to be,
won’t be.
Those are the hardest pieces of all to
accept.
The pieces of our puzzle
That just don’t belong.
But occasionally . . .
Not very often at all,
If we’re lucky,
If we pay enough attention,
We’ll find a
perfect match.
The pieces of the puzzle that slide right in
The pieces that hug the contours of our own
pieces.
The pieces that lock to us.
The pieces that we lock to.
The pieces that fit so well, we can’t tell
where our piece begins
And that piece ends.
Those pieces we call
Friends.
True loves.
Dreams.
Passions.
Beliefs.
Talents.
They’re all the pieces that complete our
puzzles.
They line the edges,
Frame the corners,
Fill the centers,
Those pieces are the pieces that make us
who we are.
Who we were.
Who we’ll one day be.
Up until today,
When I looked at my own puzzle,
I would see a finished piece.
I had the edges lined,
The corners framed,
The center filled.
It felt like it was complete.
All the pieces were there.
I had everything I wanted.
Everything I needed.
Everything I dreamt of.
But up until today,
I realized I had collected all
but one piece.
The most vital piece.
The piece that completes the picture.
The piece that completes my whole life.
I held this girl in my arms
She wrapped her tiny fingers around mine.
It was then that I realized
She was the fusion.
The glue.
The cement that bound all my pieces
together.
The piece that seals my puzzle.
The piece that completes my life.
The element that makes me who I am.
Who I was.
Who I’ll one day be.
You, baby girl.
You’re my final piece.”

A book about a forbidden love between a girl and her brother's best friend.

"My dream had been shattered, but then re-created, fashioned into something with more meaning and becoming more precious."

Teresa "Tess" Hamilton had everything. She was on the road to reaching her dream only to have it shattered. When she tears her ACL she has to resort to plan B. College. Now Tess is miserable and trying to become a teacher all the while hoping that her leg will heal so she can dance again. Enter Jase Winstead, aka Cam's best friend and Tess's long time crush. They shared a mind-blowing kiss a year ago but Jase tells her it shouldn't have happened. Jase has his own baggage and doesn't want Tess to settle with someone like him when he believes she can do better. However, this doesn't stop the sparks from flying.

"We can't be friends. I can't be friends with you, because I love you, and you've hurt me."

Tess is our main heroine on this novel. She's determined and doesn't give up on dance and Jase as well. She was a fun character who you couldn't help but love. She just wants to dance and have Jase love her back. Both of which are hard to accomplish. And then there's Jase. Okay, now I'm not saying Jase wasn't swoon-worthy (because he most definetly was), but I was agitated by his character. He kept going back and forth which bugged the hell out of me.

"You don't get it, Tess. I can't have you."
"But you do have me," I whispered."

"You don't need all of this." He turned thundercloud eyes on me. "You're young and have all your life ahead of you."

I know he has his responsibilities but he shouldn't confuse Tess. I love you, wait I can't. It just broke Tess and she didn't deserve that to be added on her plate. This brought his swoon-worthiness down in my opinion. However, I love how he turned out in the end. We also see characters from the first two books. Ahem, Cam and Avery.

"I want you to be with me."

Sweet, holy moly! Jennifer definetly did not disapoint with this book. There's just enough romance mixed with action and a gripping storyline. I loved this book and if not for Jase's character in the middle of the book, I would have given this book 5 stars. Other than that it was a good addition to this series. 4.5/5 stars

UPDATE 1/24/14: Jennifer just posted a link to the first five chapters of this book. Warning: These chapters are extremely addicting and will leave you wanting more. Read at your discretion.
