I loved the Spielberg name drop in the book and he ended up directing the movie, it was really interesting to see what things they decided to include in the movie and leave out. I can see why they turned it into a film. The action adventure sequences were so visually descriptive in the best way and made me feel fully immersed in the world.

Even though the story revolves around Stella and Desire, I feel like the character that felt the most human was Jude (Desireās daughter). She had such a character arch. At first she was kinda a bitch and very narrow minded, supporting her abusive father and with a druggie herself. I really thought her only redeeming quality was liking drag queens LMAO. But she was so determined to be successful and to help her boyfriend. Even though Early (her second father figure) caught them together, it didnāt matter to her. Even though Reese was Bi (which was controversial at this time) it didnāt bother her. She saved up enough of her money to help him get the surgery he really wanted to make him feel confident again. She dealt with all the shit Kennedy threw at her. She was just a trooper.
It was interesting to see he internalized racism through a black womanās eyes. How she convinced herself to be white to fit in and have āa better lifeā and how it contrasted to Desireās life. I felt so bad for Kennedy having to deal with Stella and all her gaslighting.
Overall, I thought this book had too many side storyās for me and The ending was very lack luster, but Iām glad I read it!
Overall, this is a 1800ās version of American Psycho. Man obsessed with his image, slowly goes crazy, (spoilers) and ends up murdering. The book felt written very pretentiously. Maybe it was the time it was written, but there would be paragraphs that droned on and on and I realized I wasnāt even paying attention to what was happening. Sometimes it was good because the sensory descriptions made it feel like a movieā¦ but at that point I rather be watching then reading (and I rarely say that). The saving grace was the audio book was voiced by a British man and they gay undertones were a breath of fresh air, but I wish there would have been more.
I genuinely disliked Henry so much in this book, he made it hard to keep reading. His blatant sexism was nausea inducing. Beautiful = brainless, no woman is a genius, they are a decorative sex, woman are slaves and need to be dominatedā¦ just disgusting pig behavior. The only thing I agreed with him on is that he thinks men are more irrational than women.
Dorian ended up so manipulative and cruel especially revolving around Syble, and later Basil. He was crazy and to be honest a major drama queen.
This book was on my TBR list for a long time, so Iām glad I finally read it but it was majorly disappointing.

Overall I liked it enough, but less than the first one so I gotta remove 1/2 a star.
Before my thoughts while reading, I gotta mention, Bones is the star of the show in these books. The first nine chapters were hard to get through without him, and then when he came in I was elated LOL. He makes me cry, smile, blush. Heās just so cute. He always delivers, heās so rational to Katās insane vibe. Like he actually makes her think before doing something impulsive. Props to bones.

I immediatly didnāt know how to feel about this book since the main character was a pornstar likeā¦ not relatable at all and the plot line of the book is definitely a bit far fetched like huh??? A RABBI WANTS A SEX ED CLASS TAUGHT AT HIS CHURCH FROM A FORMER PORNSTAR?!?! Wh-what do you mean? I thought the book might be too much for meā¦ details like the main character used to fuck her best friends fiancĆ©? Whatt š but it slowly hooked me with the lovable characters and the relatablity of new relationships. Ethan was just wow. I love his ideas on Science meeting faith and how they can flex and adapt to each other, people can have both yet most of the time people think itās one or the other. He was awkward and shy like asking her to find him someone to date when he didnāt know how to ask her out (frustrating but adorable) and Him offering her bagel bites on the first dateā¦ I canāt š he made me blush many times (the end of chapter 21) he knows what heās doing. The end climax was perfect (no spoilers) but Iāll end on a quote I loved from Miss Grant herself. āNo one else can ever save you. Itās okay. You donāt need saving.ā A great poolside read. āļøā±ļø

The novel follows Emily and her friend Kristen as their backpacking trip has deadly consequencesā¦
From the get go Kristen gave me Alex DeLaurentis vibes from pretty little liars she was having impulsive manipulative thought from the jumpā¦ Not a good sign. Her obsessive tendencies really shines through from start to finish- at first I thought she was a closeted lesbian and liked Emily- (especially with what happened with Jamie)ā¦but I was so wrong. She was a master at gaslighting, I really felt bad for Emily.
I got the ick from the almost ācool girlā style monologueā¦ come on now you canāt do what gone girl did.
Overall I was just flabbergasted and how crazyyyy Kristen wasā¦ I was screaming for Emily to plz get out of there girl. But emily was sadly a pushover and naĆÆve. I feel like even though there were shocks I wasnāt like blown away by anything. It would have been really fun if Aaron happened to be like an undercover FBI/CIA agent or something
I just feel like this book couldāve been shorter. It kind of drags on and just rehashes the same thing and the ending just kept me saying why over and over again.
I feel like this overall would have made a much better movie than a book which I rarely say.
Romancing Mr. Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
To preface this review, I wanted to read this book before the new season of the show comes out in May. I love Colinās character in the books, charming and funny he is genuinely one of my favorite brothers IN THE BOOKS. In the show they have written him terribly thus far. In the book Penelope has hardly been touched on, but in the show I genuinely dislike her so much. I am NOT looking forward to the next season of the show, but Iām hoping this book will change that.
