I took so much from this. I even saved ten or so (maybe more) of these poems for later. I needed to feel something tonight, and I sure did.

4.5! This V.E. Schwab's writing has got to be something great. I'm not a huge fantasy reader, but this was all pretty easy to believe in (considering it's all magic). Her writing is so descriptive in just the right amount- not too pretentious but paints the scene PERFECTLY. I'm excited to read the next two in this series, and I would recommend this (at least the first book) in a heartbeat.

3.5-3.9 i’m pretty sure i love wally lamb. yes maybe this didn’t necessarily need to be 900 but people don’t really appreciate stories anymore. they just wanna get to the point. i liked the story, i thought it was equally sad as it was heartwarming and i love that in books. not my absolute favorite wally lamb book though.

i’m glad i gave colleen hoover another chance after ugly love because i hate that book— but i really liked this one. i hate a cheating trope but i love their relationship beyond that. i love the marital issues and sacrifices they make for one another. i love the then and now timelines in books. i really like the chemistry of the characters too and the ending of this one was really pretty good. colleen hoover writes for YOUNG minded young adults i think, but if you’re looking for something easy to read that makes you feel a little lovey-dovey something— she’s your girl. i don’t think any of her books will top it ends with us for me.

i love this. i’ve never read a poetry book like this before. i’ve never read words so pretty before. i was recommended this by a coworker and she loves the author. is it a tiny bit pretentious? maybe. or maybe just hard to understand? a little. but passed that, it’s a gem.

I read this in the airport right before my first ever flight. Maybe my nerves had something to do with it, or maybe it's because I'm not into the country/ranch/cowboy vibe, but this wasn't my best experience with NS. I liked it, it just wasn't close to the ones that hold the special place in my heart.

LISTEN! I really like this series! I really like the characters and the dynamics between them. I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut so this took me way too long to read and I think that could have affected my thoughts on it. I love her writing and I’m so excited for the last book!
The Gingerbread Girl by Stephen King

I’m not super set on Stephen King yet. I’ve heard nothing but good things, but this book wasn’t my favorite. It was a good story but not much happened. It felt like a short story. No plot or character development or big resolution it was just kind of the meat of the story. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t my thing.

i am so happy to be done reading this but so sad to close it. i loved this one so much. the ending? so good. the writing? SO GOOD. i can’t explain this book without making it sound boring but it’s NOT. the writing really brings this to life. it’s definitely not a cheese ball romance but there are romantic subplots if you like romance. BUT so so good. only lost like? 1/2 a star for the pretentiousness of it all. it’s very scholar and very smart.
Pilgrim Bell: Poems by Kaveh Akbar

This was so incredibly infuriating. Every single poem had a beautiful point to prove, an important message, something deeper to think about. That side of this book? Absolutely stunning. However, no amount of importance or beauty becomes what it’s meant to be, if the reader cannot decipher the meaning. Maybe this book was written for non-english speakers and translated (and translated poorly), but if it wasn’t— I have a really hard time believing the average english speaker could enjoy reading this. I could easily be below the threshold of the audience. Not smart enough, not worldly enough, not SOMETHING enough, but I simply do not get it. I love other Kaveh Akbar works, but this one took me forever to even get to, and I’m left with nothing after finishing it.
