i kind of had to adjust to sally rooney’s writing style and it wasn’t my favorite because it seemed so bland — but also i think that made the big things stick out so much more.

at first i really had to force myself to get invested in this. i don’t like to pick up books without finishing them but i think the second half was a lot easier for me to get into.

i wasn’t a fan of all the time jumps and then backtracking to cover all the months that weren’t written about before. but overall i felt like a clown for completely bashing this book because it got to a point where the back and forth between connell and marianne kind of felt like a giant slap in the face (hahahaha lol). but even in the end, i still don’t entirely know where they stand or what’s between them and that kind of enrages me. when i flipped and realized i only had one chapter left i was like … wtf there’s no way this is ending well (and i guess it didn’t). but it did end better than i thought it would. i really thought it would end in them parting ways forever instead of temporarily (but i guess i’ll never actually know what came next) and becoming total strangers.

it kind of reminds me of love, rosie (one of my favorite movies

this would have been awesome as a full length novel but it felt like so much background was missing since it’s a very short story

elodie harper count your days!!!

this book was amazing. i was surprised at how quickly it reeled me in and how instantly i came to like it. elodie harper did not sugar coat a single aspect of the experience these women must have endured back in the day … this book was absolutely heart wrenching and realistic and honest. my heart hurts for the women of the wolf den
