Killer for Hire by Alexis Abbott

4.0

Contains adult themes such as sex, strong language and scenes of violence. Gifted | This book Killer for Hire was gifted to me by Netgalley in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own. At the beginning of the story we come face to face with our two main characters but have no idea what’s actually going on except that Luca is preparing to kill a man and in the end we meet young Serena who is scared out of her mind. Although we don’t know what happened to Serena within the room it is constantly brought up creating a mystery. This story is in two points of view it switches between both Luca and Serena in a very clear and concise way.

The story then moves to a few years later. We meet a more mature, professional, strong independent women also known as Serena and a strong, smart, skilled, fierce and warrior Luca.

Tension unfolds quiet early in within this story between Luca and Lorenzo which creates really good suspense throughout the story. There isn’t only tension between Luca and Lorenzo there is also huge sexual tension between our two main characters and some hot and steamy sex scenes that leaves nothing to the imagination.

Gifted | This book was provided by Xpresso Book Tours in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First off I was really excited to get into this book because it sounded very different to normal contemporary romance novels. Right from the beginning you get the sense that this is going to be a hot and steamy book with many many spicy scenes littered throughout the pages.

This story was a very unique and different but it fell short on execution. At the time of reading this story I enjoyed it but once I finished this book and sat down to think about this story and conjure up my thoughts for this review I realised there were some problems with this story that didn’t sit well with me.

Steal my heart was a very fast paced story. It didn’t give a lot of time to building up the story and just threw us into the story without knowing the characters.

In the synopsis it talks about Lexanne trying to solve these crimes but there is barely any investigation throughout this story even though she’s a police officer which really annoyed me.

The ending came very very quickly and it all wrapped up neatly with a little bow but didn’t really give me any of the answers that I wanted.

Although this story is a quick read that can definitely get you out of a reading slump it’s not the best book that I have read. I enjoyed this story as I read it and flew through it so if you’re looking for a quick and easy read Steal my heart is the one for you.

Strands of truth was gifted to me in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I absolutely adored this book. I simply couldn’t put it down and here’s why.

In this story we follow many strands of truth which ultimately leads to a shocking discovery when the whole truth comes out.

Strands of truth explores some pretty amazing themes like faith, jealousy, abandonment, grief and so much more and gives a great insight into what it’s like to deal with the struggles within this story.

Following this story it jumps between past and present tense. We follow two women in the past who have been murdered, we follow harper, ridge, Annabelle and some strange person we have no idea about in the present tense.

This story is so action packed! It truly kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to see what happens next.

Along with all the action we also get to witness a slow burn romance between Harper and ridge who kind of hate each other so yes this story also has the enemies to lovers trope.

Colleen is an amazing author and ill definitely have to read more of her books. This is another brand new favourite of mine and deserves every single star that I gave it.
