A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

For awhile, I did feel bored. The first maybe half wasn’t super thrilling for me, and I think I was too used to Sarah’s usual style of “GO GO GO” which I didn’t have until the second half.
I did really enjoy the second half though. Thing after thing happened, and it kept me on my toes wonderfully.
I will say that the funniest thing to me was when Amarantha was screaming at Feyre to say she didn’t love Tamlin. I was just like, omg girl just say it you don’t have to mean it but you’re dooming everyone right now

I loved Maya and Rowan as characters so much, they were so complicated and felt so real.I was totally rooting for them the entire time.
It’s not much of a critique because it made a lot of sense and was entirely believable, but having Elise just push Alana off a cliff as the way she died felt anticlimactic.

Amazing read, and a very top tier mystery. I wasn’t able to predict who did it(which is always a bonus) and boy was it an interesting ending.

THE CYRUS AND ALIZEH DRAMA
For a second book in a trilogy, boy did this one do pretty well with the curse-of-boring-filler-pages

I think this could be a really great book for a person who isn’t me. It just felt so much like a middle grade book and not a YA. Despite there being small romance elements and a stronger theme of death, it just felt like I was reading a middle grade when I was meant to be reading YA.
And in general, I think it could’ve survived without the romance element. The romancebetween Cassius and Marlene felt entirely unnecessary to me, especially since I felt they had no reason to be together. (I was honestly rooting for Bluejay and Cassius the whole time)

I actually loved this book. I love pirates, and the way the book explored grief was interesting and I really felt Poe’s grief the whole time. Tam’s death was even more devastating I loved himmmmm why would you do this. I also did predict Naomi being a traitor, but not because of any hints or anything I just knew it would be the most important person to Poe.
The only things I felt were not as good, it felt slow quite a few times and I would put the book down not wanting to pick it back up again.I also honestly never felt like Poe and Brig had any chemistry or have any potential for a relationship. I know the author set them up to be together in the future, but I didn’t see anything between them before it was explicitly told to the reader that Poe was interested in him. I honestly think it would’ve made more sense to have Tam as the love interest, and even though he died, I saw a lot more between them.

The plot was very unique and I loved the whole storyline. It kept me interested most of the time, and it was good.
I do feel that there wasn’t really a big “twist” like there is in most mystery-labeled novels, it’s not necessarily a bad thing but I didn’t enjoy that.
I also was never on the edge of my seat, and I wanted that so bad.
Not by any means a bad book, it’s a more calm book in my opinion and I prefer mysteries that make my heart pound with anticipation. Purely the reader and not the book.

I loved the concept and the airships were so cool. Additionally, I love Ying’s whole story, and her journey through the engineer’s guild is amazing.
The one thing that kind of icked me out wasat the end when Ye-yang betrays Ying, and she very clearly doesn’t want to be with him, but it still feels like the author is rooting for them and is hinting at their future relationship.
