This made me really miss the second generation. They were my favorite, after all. Nostalgia's what it is.

The beginning's too long. I can't read any more farther than that. I'm sorry. It just wasn't interesting enough for me.

Eerie and mysterious, this tale certainly intrigued me. Quite baffling, in all honesty. What this book lacked was closure, though. I still have a lot of questions. Maybe it was meant to be that way. Maybe this book wants to keep you wondering but it doesn't seem right, you know?

I mean, what was the boy exactly? What was his name? Why did Josh commit? What was the greatest mystery of all? Was it the blinding light? What was that?

Bit of a cliffhanger, this book. But it was well-written, excites you, keeps you curious and hungry for mystery, I'll give you that.

Read the first chapter. Didn't handle it. Why would you even? Ugh. This is so racist, it disgusts me. Don't even bother. Don't read it. Save yourself.

I promised myself that I would never read another vampire novel in this lifetime but no, I read this and it is indeed one of the best vampire novels out there. I'm not being sarcastic. It's wonderfully written and I do not regret a single thing.

This novel presented a very fresh way of telling a vampire story. Smut + Egyptian Mythology + Vampires turned out to be a pretty cool equation after all. Nothing was left unresolved, thank God. And also, the heroine's pretty cool and she doesn't stand there helpless and actually does things even though some of them are unintentional but at least she does something.

I'm going to go way deeper here and say that this book is also socially insightful in a way because it sort of incorporates the social classes into its story line. It could be considered inspirational, what the characters have done... subverting the aristocratic paradigm and all that.

And don't get me started on Lily and Ty's chemistry. The sexual tension between them's so suffocating that them breaking it into coitus becomes a reprieve. And whenever they unite, it's really fantastically arousing. I assure you that.

I appreciate how it has a really intricate story line.

And now, here's my own opinion...
Honestly, there were a lot of times when I've come to regret reading this. It bored me most of the time. And it always popped into my head that there are more books that are better that I could be reading right in that moment. But, even though it was lacking, it was still kind of alright. If not good.

There were way too many pop culture references everywhere. That bothered me a little bit. What made up for that was that the protagonist was quirky in lots of ways. I guess?

All in all, this book was more of a disappointment because I expected more out of this.

I loved loved loved reading the stories in it. I think it's very nice of Mr. Riordan to give importance to the stories that were in between the major events because they're important too. It was also very nice of him to write Luke's origins. And also very sweet of him to publish his son's well-crafted story in this book. I gotta say, like father like son!

Although it was short, it was one heck of a read. The writing was perfect. I appreciate the wordplay even though certain play of words have been done before. The chemistry was just so right and perfect. The conflict was also so perfect (I can't think of any other word, seriously) in composition and wasn't a letdown. It was a gentle kind of heartbreaking and sad and that's what I like best about this book. It's also very wealthy in details albeit the conciseness of the novel. It's just a really fun, light and sexy read! Five stars! Would definitely recommend!
